i bought the flywheel second hand... eventually from someone on here.
Prob never sent them in spite the fact I threatened him that I was going to come knockling on his door if he didn't send it....
Never mind, I'll machine something at workies.
I hope when you have sorted the spacers alls ok, you deserve a break mate..

You set your backplate on the bench, but if you don't support the backplate underneath the clutch centre will be on the bench, rather than the backplate. I used some spare flywheel spacers on mine (as you saw in my thread). You see, if the backplate isn't 'held up' it will just drop down to the bench (and could end up giving you a mahoosive gap like you have). You need the clutch to be 'clamped' by the assembly.
Hard to explain really, but yeah, do it with the backplate lifted of the bench.

Well i did it wrong then.
Just rasied the back plate off the bench, so the clutch plate is "free floating", and well, the drive straps are now correct...
This is getting confusing.....

Had to go through exactly the same with mine when I did it.
Do you have a new primary gear or crank? Have you checked the clearances on the bushes? Mine was binding a little on the crank tail. When the clutch pedal was pressed, the clutch was operating OK, but the primary gear was still spinning with the crank. That could explain the problem.
Does the car go into gear at all? Have you tried the clutch with the starter motor out and someone pressing the pedal. You should be able to get yer finger in through the starter aperture and move the clutch plate with yer finger. If you can do that when the engine's not running then the clutch is working.

I've sorted that out now, needed a small 1mm spacer on each horn.
Refitted everything, set up the stop nut etc... started fitting the starter solinoid and the batt cable fell out of the connection, so I am calling it a night atm, back is killing me.
So tomorrow, start up and suck n see if it works. But since refitting, the clutch does feel alot nicer now

Spacing the clutch out by 1mm, and tweaking the C clip on the crank tail, Wet n drying the splines slightly, and making sure the whole lot is smooth going on and off....
Built the car all back up today, got it to fire, sounds soooooooo smooth now

But as it was ticking over, I tryed the clutch.......
..... I just need to fit my wheels and I am on the road again
