A friend from my clubs forum, used to race Minis, and mention had I "spaced" the clutch correctly. After he explianing what it means by spacing, and a quick glance on Minispares, it seems I somehow, never knew about spacing clutches

But anyways, after the check, it would seem, I've been running the clutch far, far, far tooooo tight!
The picture below, is the gap I need to space up... I was bolting the straps, directly onto the back plate, so making the clutch, already too tight, and this would be why I couldn't slip the clutch too....
One horn...

Two horn...

Also, get yer spring flat mate. Deffo worth doing that.
As for hating minis, I had plenty of days like that with the exact same type of clutch problems as you. Mine's fine now, just get her done man, it'll be right soon!
PM/text me if you need any advice with it too mate.

Thanks dudeMate, take a look in my project thread, there's an attempt at a guide in there for setting the drive straps. But yeah, yours are well out by the looks of it.

Before you machine the spacers down or add washers to the backplate horns, check that (with washers on the horns) the spring in the cover sits flat when it's all tightened together. Then you know what you need to do. With that much to space out, I'm not sure which I'd do, I think I'd machine the spacers down, but it'll depend on spring position.
Search minimania for a good guide on the spring flatness

I did "set" mine right? Just read ur thread, and I see u raised the back plate up, I didn't do this? I just lay it flat on the bench, was I meant to raise it?

Never mind, I just need to hope I can get some washers to fill a 6mm gap!

You 'could' machine down the spacers that are already there by the 6mm that you have, rather than adding a spacer on top of the backplate horns, but it seems weird that it's that far out to be honest. Weird.
How thick are your current spacers?

I don't have any spacers atm.
whoever supplied the machined flywheel should have supplied some
machined posts to replace the posts machined off when lightened.
