I'll let you know when I take it to a track day and you can come along, as lap times never lie.

You're both correct :(

Cool, its just that the figures KAD give for the road/track twin cam kit is in the region of 120-130BHP, what have you changed on it to get the extra ponies?

Well in simple terms the desired power output is simply down to the cams you run in the engine. What you need to remember is the spec of my engine actually exceeds their Stage 4 engine in terms of the components in it.

The stages they refer to are more to do with the spec of the components of the engine, lesser spec components such as metro turbo crank and rods and cast pistons will simply not live with the higher outputs. They're not referring to the head as you would normally expect with 5 port stuff. The head is the same, what changes the power is the cams you run. If you were to put the cams my brother runs in his in a stage 1 or 2 engine it wouldn't last long thats for sure.

I chose to run a small valve head on L14 cams because I knew I was going to do a lot of road miles, which on KAD's dyno is good for 150ish bhp. I have a couple of extra tweaks within my engine too which should account for an extra 5 - 10hp over their quoted estimates.

What you also need to understand is that KAD horsepower is real horsepower.....not this magic stuff that the magazines quote. I know for a fact (because i've seen them on the dyno) that the 2005 chapionship winning miglia engine made 124hp on a good day. Now thats absolutely awesome for a 5 port 1300 engine, its only the fact that so much ******* has been spread about magic 150hp 5 porters that everyone today has their blinkers on.

I could take my car to baldwins and probably get 200hp out of it easily, then KAD could advertise that their engines might make 270hp on full race cams.....but KAD would rather be conservative and let the results do the talking....ie - super mighty mini championship winner? KAD powered.......and we all know what happened when the kad engined mini went up against the best that vauxhall, honda, yamaha and suzuki could offer on the mini madness DVD.....:(

It broke down? :)

Sorry about that Dan, what actually did go wrong? They sort of glossed over that on the DVD.

They didn't get a 0 - 60 out of it because sollis broke the gear linkage, which was a shame as it would have been F***ing awesome....it did however beat everything but the monte carlo and the watkins spaceframe around the circuit. In fact I think it has the quickest lap time of any of the cars lapped on the DVD's to date.

As I said, lap times don't lie :(
