.....the revised bonnet fitted with the powerbulge to cover the cam pulleys.

I think it is the best I could do.

With hindsight I would have gone for the short cam KAD head as it would not be as showing...and less cutting to the front.

....and a lighter wallet :teehee:

I think it looks great, a neat job. I wouldn't have the first idea when it comes to that sort of thing.

Dan, Yes your right about the lighter wallet.....my funds are seriously lacking even now!

Its not that difficult to do moulding.

Basically you use mounting card layered up in any shape you want like the contours of a map. Stick the layers together with UHU glue and then pour resin over it. Sand back and final fill as necessary. Voila.... instant shape without all the messing. A bit time consuming (not too bad though) but the result is exact to within less than 1mm. I made a complete bonnet amendment in a weekend.

This method is great for custom battery boxes, accessories, dashes etc.

I think I may need to modify the nearside Y mount (metro) to suit the bottom KAD pulley.

It runs a bit too close.

....and I just noticed that GRP dust thats there from when I cut out the front to ft the head needs blowing out!

Hmm. I have probably spent a few months evenings on each one. Its hard to say exactly how many hours I have spent. I can say its difficult trying to keep in with my children and wife, plus running a business and doing these at same time!

I actually started the white convertible in january last year....nearly finished it and then got the blue one in september last year which I paid £300 for...so the white one got cannibalized back to basics. This is because I could see the blue coupe as a day to day car. The white one is my baby as I built it from scratch originally with a 1430cc 5 port back in '91-'92.

The blue coupe is running now and I use it as my day to day car (running 5 port), albeit I do have to drop the 7 port in it shortly.

I'm hoping to complete the convertible by summer/autumn.

:teehee: well I've run out of photos now!

I should start rebuilding the KAD engine next week proper when I get some new pulleys from KAD

If anyone wants to see photos of the build let me know.

Kind regards,

David
