Your alternater should be OK I run the same cibie's with 100 watt bulbs on my 1981 hl. They are mega, shame the days are getting longer the last few months I have been using them alot 15miles of twisty B roads ti my home every night.

Heater on, Heated rear screen on, radio on. No probs!!!

Cool, any pics? I think my current alternator is just getting a bit long in the tooth and needs a few fresh components to get it working at its best! I have a low milage one sitting in the garage waiting for this engine to be finished but I may just try popping it on now to see if there's any difference. Currently my voltmeter reads 10V at 60mph but slow down through the villages and it goes back up to a healthy 13VDC. That's without turning anything on or off differently at different speeds!?

LORD KNOWS IT'S BEEN A WHILE!

After months of nothing I'm finally attacking my 1293 again, get in. I got a central oil pick up pipe fitted to the gearbox, bought from a show. Fitted the block and flywheel casing. Did a test turn of the crank and it jammed at a specific point so I whipped the timing cover off as I have hear they can jam with duplex timing chains, nothing out of sorts and now binned yet another gasket. Loosened off the oil pipe nuts and tried again, the engine rotated fine. So the crank was catching on the pick up pipe ;)

So I took the flywheel casing and block off (Again) and could easily see where it was catching...

I bought a decent pipe from minispares and it's easy to see the difference in shape. It also comes with a bracket to make sure the intake end is held more securely.

I've now got the block re-fitted, along with the timing cover. Have to fit crank pully bolt. It's now finally looking like an angine once again! Planning on getting it sorted of the coming week ready for installation this weekend! :)

Been busy today getting the clutch casing fitted and the clutch together.

I had to grind the lightened flywheel to get the Spring plate to fit. I also fitted the tapered centre piece with the 6 nuts which I Locktited and torqued them (45lb) to make sure they don't come off and wreck everything!

I have also fitted the oil pressure relief nut with a ball bearing and Cooper 'S' spring which should give me a oil pressure of around 75psi. It's really looking like a mini engine with the flywheel casing fitted.

The clutch is now fitted and looking shiney and ready for action! I'm loving fitting all the newly bought kit, it looks great. There's not many really big jobs left to do on the engine now. The clutch casing and are that I have spare has seized quite well so I may have to use my existing engine's one. Some more beatings with a hammer and WD40 may help but not a huge issue. I may get an engine hoist rented for this weekend

To Be Continued!... :)
