Went to the scrappy and got a few bits I needed - speedo cable, screenwash bottle and a few other bits n bobs.
Fitted and wired the screenwash bottle, but the washer jets have gone awol, so thats another trip to the scrappy. Added some more soundproofing inside the cabin, flatted and polished the bonnet, which I have now fitted. I also cleaned up all the lamps etc by flinging the lot in the dishwasher. So, it now has headlights, indicators, tail lights, windscreen and front bumper. I also painted and fitted the new petrol tank.
I put a battery into it to see how my wiring loom works, and initial impressions are good. The hazards dont work, but Im pretty sure the flasher relay is dud. The switch for the fog light doesnt light up either, but thats minor stuff that I havent looked at yet. Possibly a dead bulb in the switch.
I have also flatted and polished the rear doors, but ran out of time this evening to get them fitted. I did tint the rear windows though, and made a start to fitting the rear door seals.

Like the *lady garden* that I am, I left the camera at the farm this evening, so no pics Im afraid.
Back doors are on and shutting properly - not an easy job to get them sitting right.
Bonnet alignment has been fettled and the latch now works properly.
I bought a roll of black carpet and made new carpets for the car - Not as hard as I thought it would be, despite the original carpets being moulded to the curves of the floor.
I lined and carpeted the dash shelf, and fitted the centre-mount binnacle with speedo and guages. Its all wired up and appears to be working well. I also re-set the mileometer to zero, as it was stuck at 90odd k. Im not entirely happy with the dash lining, but it will do for now.
Revolutions are painted body-colour on the spokes. Im now debating whether to paint the rims cream or leave them silver. they are painted silver, not polished, and I dont have the time to polish them up for now.
I have also just finished flatting and polishing the main doors, so I can hopefully get them asembled and on soon.
Pics tomorrow!

Sucks you being so close to finishing it as well. Hope you get well soon, although I do understand you dont want to be rushing back with an injury to the neck.

My neck is still knackered, and the pain in my side has been re-diagnosed as cracked ribs too.
Stalling the project so close to completion has destroyed my mojo. A good weekends worth of work, and new master cylinders, would see it finished and on the road, but I am currenly just not physically capable of doing it. God-knows when I will be, either.

That really sucks. Do you have any Idea how long it will take to recover?
If I could get to france I would come and do it for you.
Get well soon, hope you make a good recovery.

Got a few hours on the mini today, for the first time in a long while.
With a lot of drilling, filing, hammering and wearing, I have finally got the left hand side door fitted. The panel gaps arent great, but it will do for now. The paint is knackered too, but it will do for now too!

I also got the glass, the seals the latches and the handles fitted to both doors...

This was a pain in the ass for the latches, as since I have converted to LHD, I had to drill the latches apart and swap all the internals over so the lock mechanism is still on the drivers side and the internal lock latch is on the passenger side. Its wee crap like this thatyou dont think of when planning that takes so much time!
The interior is looking a bit tidier too....

I always sit here and flick through peoples projects and think fair play or well done etc. But yours is the first project i have ever sat and read every post of, and my god mate, you deserve a metal for your metal work. Ps, the paintjob is far better than alot of peoples i have seen and it looks fine from the pictures.
Seriously though, hang in there and lets see this baby finished, from what I can see, you have alot of fans rooting for you!
Woop Woop!
Take care

Ahmet.
