Alrite mate,

Could be ball joints causing nocking noise. I just smashed a top ball joint, steering arm, tie bar and snapped the steering rack, bent both bottom arms and wrecked my front alloys and tyres when i lost it on a roundabout and went up a kerb and into a bush. I blame the new engine lol.

'Tis was scary and fun though

EDIT: If it is a ball joint, me and James can help you, we did a bottom one on mine for the MoT, and did a top one on the road side yday after the little bump lol.

I'll go out and see what condition the ball joints are in when I wake up a little, but yeah I wouldn't mind the help :P cheers lads.

Going to be starting a mini fund, I'll keep it updated in my signature but any money I earn and decide to put aside I'll be putting it into a jar and updating the amount on here, that way I can keep a steady flow of funds going towards her and also it's a little bit of motivation which will keep me going.

Payday soon so a chunk of that will be going into it.

Front flip has gone out the window, instead of the 1-2 months I thought it might take to earn the funds and buy the parts it'll take a lot longer, but oh well, not rushing for anything :P. So I can slowly buy parts and stockpile them ready for the final push.

Oh and some good news is one of Dads friends has said he'd be only to happy to help with the welding, so he'll be teaching Dad and I and I'm also hoping he'll use his welder, he also used to own a Mini :P.

Off out to paint the gate and earn some money, which of course, will be going into the mini fund :D.

Front flip will be on hold until I get the engine running smoothly, without any hiccups.

So next purchase will be a new radiator, I was thinking an uprated 3 core to improve cooling? & new hoses to go with it.

Nice mini! I've just been looking through this topic and have seen that you managed to get your insurance quite cheap. I have been looking for quotes and they are around the region of £1300. If you could pm me some of the details if you have them, then that would be great. I have a 1977 mini in a green simular to yours, it's in between the british racing green and almond green. Also i like your idea of 10" wheels, i prefer them to the 13"s especially if you can get nice wide 10"s. I have some revolution 4 spoke wheels on mine, tyre size 165 so i think they may be as wide as 6"?

I went with Footman James, although it's capped to 6k miles a year & I can't claim NCB..

Yeah I'd love some 10" wheels, some GBs maybe or revolutions, I just need the money! & I'd rather get the rest of her spot on before I think about things like that, gotta take things step at a time. I don't earn a huge amount, so trying to make progress is hard, but then again I've got the rest of my life to work on her.

Any pictures of yours?

Payday! sorted all my debts out with the family, so all the money in my account now is 100% mine :D.

Going away tomorrow till Saturday, and then it's my girlfriends birthday after that, few nights out in town and I'll see what I'm left with, & with that money I can start spending it on b :techsupport:

Just happy I've sorted that out, one less thing to worry about.

Yeah that's not too bad then, I thought it was further than that, any news if Robyn is coming?

Got my eye out for a new radiator & hoses at the minute, if they haven't got what I'm looking for at the show I'll order it from Mini spares,

http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=38044

That's what I'm after, I know it's aimed at more powerful beefier engines rather than my standard 998, but it'd work a dream.

Any news on the supercharger?

Everything sorted then tonight, my Mini is all polished up, windows cleaned, hoovered inside, cleaned the wheels, lights, the lot. And the boot is full of tools; tow rope, battery charger, jump leads, socket set, bottle of water & other basic tools.

Just gotta take it steady tomorrow for the 240 mile trip, stopping off every hour or so to let my mini, girlfriend and I cool down, should be okay & with the thanks of my Dad tonight going over various things I'm a bit more relaxed about tomorrow.

Decided instead of buying a new radiator I'm going to make a list of little bits I can buy from MITP, gutter trim, door trims etc.. and then the money I have let will be put aside in the mini jar and I can start saving for my MK1 flip front :dontgetit:.

I have some pics, not sure how to put them on yet, as i am new to the forum. I'll probs put them in the gallery. I like the sound of a mk1 flip front, atleast the wings etc won't rust if your getting the fibreglass one. I was hoping at a later stage to get a mk1 grill and bonnet as i prefer them to the others. Thanks for the insurance details, i'll check them out later.

Yer its not that far mate, and was taking to James yday after work, and we said if your money is too tight, we would both chip in so you can get there, and repay us when ever, would be a real shame if you couldn't come. And I'm sure Robyn is coming, but I don't want to drag her along if Hollie isn't coming because she will just be bored. Also about your radiator, does it have plently of coolant in it, not just water?

Talk soon
