But coming home last night from a night out it was raining heavily and there were a few floods which I didn't see and ploughed into at 50-60mph, whole car was engulfed in water and at one point my electrics flickered on and off and the alternator light came on.. which was worrying. So I got home and sponged out the water from the footwells which was a bit disappointing because Dad and I thought we covered all the holes, but there was one we missed.. I pulled out the sound deadening so I could let that dry and underneath was a 2cm in diameter hole, underneath is a bolt so I'm guessing it's the subframe mount? It's a machine cut hole so I'm guessing there should be a grommet on there or something, that caused a big puddle so I'm happy that it was that which was causing it and not some masssive rust hole elsewhere.

These came today so I can put back together my lights after I've given them a clean up.
& also my waterpump gasket came, so I'll take the waterpump off, replace the bypass hose with my blue silicone one, fit the gasket and put everything back together, then run the system through and empty it, and then I can refill it with water & antifreeze as we know since fitting the new radiator there aren't any leaks.

Finished, with new gaskets and mounting screws, really happy how they're looking, just gotta tuck them away for a few months until I can weld the conversion plates in!

Running about in my mini now with the carpets & sound deadening out.. it just gets damp and muddy during everyday use so I'd rather keep them out.

First of all the bonnet came off so it made working on her easier, can't wait to get the flip front done and I won't have to worry about that.

Then I put a little grommet in the hole that was leaking in water every single time I went through a puddle, so that should be the end of that.

Radiator, alternator, thermostat & fan all came out so we could take the water pump off and fit the new gasket & some sealer, and then I insisted I fitted my 'wussy' blue by-pass hose.

Job done.

Then Dad tightened up the exhaust bracket as best he could, we were planning on fitting some flamegum but it's so tricky to get your hands down there it would've been impossible.

Whoops.. Dad broke the throttle cable nut.. so at the moment it's being held on with a nut, bolt and washers almost like it happens on a bike brake cable.

I fixed the electrics but then put the fuse box in upside down!

And a well deserved good wash!

Next job is replacing the rear brake shoes & springs.

Looking good, hows the saving for the new front coming?
Cheers! well not very good at all, my MOT is coming up and both the front and rear brakes need looking at.. got replacement shoes & springs on the way for the rear drums but the front discs & calipers are also in a terrible state, could be I replace those with some 7.5" discs seeing as they need replacing for the MOT, they'll need replacing down the line anyway because I want to fit 10" wheels..
mk 1 lights are the shizz
Can't wait to get them welded in after Christmas

Nice to see she's being worked on bud
I still haven't even got one to work onlol.
No luck with the white one then?
Yeah I'm glad I'm making a little bit of progress now! gotta decide between a front flip & a 10" wheel conversion.. both probably cost about the same in the end.. I'll save up first and then decide I think, but changing the wheels on a mini will completey change the whole look..
