They cut the grille for me but didnt do the lights and indicators which is a bit of pain, so exicited about the shell now, im off work tomorrow to take the subbys out of the old shell and get the old shell out the garage. You any closer to have a garage yet? The hinges just look cool, impossible to move the struts by hand, not that i tried :D

Yeah I think it's pretty close to being done! As far as I know all it needs is the wall being knocked out for the garage door, electrics (having 7 sockets around the walls & 4 tube lights) but the builders use it at the moment for storing tools, so until they've finished I'd rather not intrude. Plus I haven't got all the parts yet anyway so there isn't a rush.

They are Lucas P700s mate, got them from the bay for about 70 notes. Yeah that's a good idea! It'd be illegal though :- I'll deal with the front first and work my way backwards, so the boot will be last on the list! Which reminds me about welding in those MK1 rear lights..

Just read through your topic, & im impressed with your determination.
I've just crashed my 1999 john cooper le which ive only had for a few months and im completely disheartened now.
I cant repair it myself and its going to kill it at a garage, but i just cant get rid of it so im going to have to fork out the cash.
So glad ive already got a job at a graphic design company for when i finish this year at college (strange coincidence we're in the same boat!)
But anyway, your mini is going to be one nice car when its done! good luck!

Oh :D Sorry to hear about the crash, work hard and earn a load of money, you know where to spend it :- Going in as a Junior?

Yeye, Ive already got the place as a junior, and we decided itd be a good idea for me to get abit more qualifications so they're funding my BTEC.
Which is really lucky that ive managed to fall into a job so easily, and lucky because it means i can spend my savings getting my mini fixed then worry about paying myself back later.
thats the plan anyway... aha.

+those lights are class by the way!

Yeah I'm dead impressed, well worth the extra money.

Who are you working for then? I'm finishing up my last year this year so I should be heading to Uni in September, got Lincoln down as my first. Straight Merits & 5 Distinctions this year :- hard work is paying off! Good luck :D

Tiny update, Dez has posted the hinges so they'll arrive next week I hope ;) Going to pop into town tomorrow and pick up a fuse carrier so I can try and sort the electrics this weekend, I'll also back this 'primer' I was given and get my money back & go for a good drive! I haven't driven her since last Friday.

PRESENTS ;)

So I exchanged that 'primer' for a something little more useful, 2 x 1 ltr tins of paint on stonechip & picked up an inline fuse carrier & a load of fuses for my stash in the boot.

Also had some packages waiting for me when I got home, numberplate & the stickers, they chucked in an extra few over a mix up of payments or something which I wasn't aware about, don't think I'll use them but it's still a nice thing of them to do! :ermm:

Just belled up Midlands branch of Minispares and they are attending Bingley so it's fine for me to place an order and pick it up there, which will save me about 20-30 odd notes on postage.

Looking sharp. Particularly like the bantam exhaust ;) If you do ever need any bits, try me - I'm only down the road (ish) and I've got spares all over the place in the garage!

Cheers Minivanman, at the moment I'm just collecting parts ready to get cracking!

Not sure if I should do my MOT first in February and then start doing the front, or postpone the front & then when it's finished book the MOT, opinions?

Cheers mate, best of luck with your project! Sorry to hear about your crash but I'm glad you've not been put off, looking forward to seeing your thread if you start one buddy.

Been toying about with where to put those decals on the front, can take some pictures if people want? Think it should look brilliant :(

Cheers guys! I think I'm going to layer up again and go outside, sort these electrics out. I'll take some pictures of where I think the decals look good later, & Sweetser, I'll be needing all I've got! The stickers came from the bay, they chucked in the British flags for free.

Still haven't managed to fix the electrics :o everything works bar the Hazards.. I replaced the melted inline fuse carrier with a fresh one and a new fuse but still nothing, what Dad and I don't understand is how things were working with no fuse there, I had cut off either end of the fuse carrier and the wires weren't touching, but the dip/dim lights still worked.. however I found a bit of melted wire on the wire leading to the inline fuse for the Interior light/hazards, so we're guessing that the problem lies deep inside the dashboard, behind the mess of wires for the alarm & stereo system.

Dad is just washing down the cars & then we're gonna sort the heater, pipes are getting hot at one end but not the other so I'm without a heated at the minute, believe it could just be trapped air so we'll disconnect the pipes and flush it through with a hose.

Sounds like your heater matrix thing in the car in clogged up with cr*p, best off taking that out then flussing it through with a hose.
