As far as im aware mate, you bond those metal bars to the underside of your FGR/CF bonnet, using FB strips/mesh! Does it not say on the CD?

Nah that CD seemed pretty vague, I'll have another look though!

EDIT,

Confused, have they fibreglassed over the 'arms'?

Cheers for that Carboy, but that's a good idea right? I could do that.

Hit a big scary wall.. money. Just put everything in the basket that I was going to buy from Minispares and pick up from Bingley, came to just under £300.. I should get paid about £450 or something around that mark, I owe a mate £50 and I've got my Insurance, MOT & Road tax coming up in February. It's all impossible.. that £300 doesn't include any panels, for the panels I'd be looking at another £150-£200.

I've hit this problem a few times bud, the best way around it to buy what you need right now, to get a job done.

No point in buying anything that won't be going onto the car straight away.

Don't buy anything that will sit around for ages, waiting to go on the car.

Yeah that's true.. I guess my main obstacle is the MOT, I'm not being pessimistic but it's going to fail on something, for sure. So I'll focus on that and make sure I can get it through, which means another year of motoring.

I'd also really like to buy a Macbook soonish, I'll need one before Uni and I feel bad for saying this, but I've got more important things to do than my mini

I'll see how things go, but I've got no idea of a deadline for the flip front & I'm not going to set one, I could pick up £x worth of stuff from Bingley so at least I've made a little progress.

That sucks mate but 'macbook and mini' whers your priorities! lol. University doesnt start till September so id put that further down the list personally but MOT and insurance is sorta required i guess. Time to knock on mum and dads door ;) I gotta admit on my project im to scared to look at the list of stuff required, got the list just no price towards it now. I did do one at the start on excel and i put into stages with sub-totals (none hit so far  ) but fact is s**t happens and plans change.

You still have to the front flip at some stage though, its a bit like mine, you've bought to much to turn back now!

P.S Dont pay the £50 and find a new mate lol :)

I've guessed I'll need another £500 odd to finish the front, that includes everything, It's all a bit scary to be honest. The MOT is top priority, that's just something I can't put off, so I'll get through that and see how much cash I've got left.

My front flip can wait a few months, if not more.. which is a great shame, but there isn't much I can do about it unfortunately!

I've even had a terrifying thought about what I'll do with the mini whilst I'm at University

You'll be lending it to me to look after and tweek  ;)

Just go for it, it'll all work out, lets be honest once you do go university you will definetely have no money! or is that just a myth ;)

Atleast you'll be giving me a chance to catch up with my project then with rebuilding a whole mini!

£500, so what does that all include then? plus a list of the parts already bought.

Haha, well the £500 includes a new everything for the front, seeing as everything currently on there is either dented or rusted.

I am unsure about the headlamp bowls as well, but decided that I might as well get them. If anything were ever to happen to the halogens, it will be an easy swap to put the sealed beams back in.

The headlamp bowls I've got now are in a state, might pick some up from Bingley and some new headlamp surrounds. Then I can use my new P700 lights :D

Don't get your knickers in a twist there Image, prioritise your list! Like so:

Grille package. - Ditch, your car doesn't need a grill, you can buy this later.
Brace bars. - Yeah you need those, pick some up second hand and clean up? Maybe even make some if you can.
Headlamp bowl kit, order 2. Do I need? - I'd say yes, get these, easier to change now than later and not overly expensive.
Headlamp surrounds. - Ditch, you can buy some bling bling later, takes 2 mins to change.
Wiper kit. - Unless your wipers actually don't work properlly, ditch this.
Front bumper. - Bling bling that can be added to your FG front later.
Indicator unit, order 2. - Pretty cheap so sure, why not. Fittings are the same on all types of indicator I think though so you could use your old ones and change these later.
Austin Cooper badge. - Bling bling, can be added later.
Windscreen fillet clip. - Yeah you need that.
Windscreen fillet silver. Again, needed.
Windscreen rubber. Once again, needed.
Gusset RH. - Sounds like something dirty to do with a lady, but I assume you mean the fillet panels under the scuttle corners? Yeah get these.
Gusset LG. - Yeah required.
A panel, order 2. - Yeah needed.
Inner hinge, order 2. - I assume yours are goosed so yeah.
Full scuttle. - Yeah needed.
Door flirch RH. - Considered patching or is the rust too far?
Door flitch LH. - Same as above.

I've struck through the things I think you could live without if you tried, at least for now. Just trying to help you see you don't need to do it all at once, build yourself a good foundation.

As for the hinges, I believe the done thing is you'd lay down a layer of FG where you want the hinges, place the hinge on the FG while still wet and then glass over. Your hinges already have holes drilled in the mating surfaces, but basically the layer of FG you put over the hinge will mate through the holes to the layer of wet FG underneath the hinge, which will provide a strong bond. Much like plug welding, but with fiberglass matt haha.

Cheers for that Elliot! does actually make things easier :D.

But yeah I can live without a few things, might even go bumperless and put the stick-on numberplate? I could easily get that £300 down to £200, which will be a lot easier on the wallet.
