Nursing a hangover but I'm gonna go out and chisel away all the sound deadening on the rear floor, doesn't matter about the front 'cause those panels will be replaced anyways..

Getting there! I did half the floor, started on the other side and started on the rear seat. Also drilled the rivets out of the 'ashtray' that once used to be there. Oh and I uncovered some man-made holes.. I understand these were for drainage? But then couldn't understand why they were under the sound-deadening.. so I took them all out and when it comes around the welding then they will be patched up.

You should leave the floor like that with the shell effect.

I stripped the paint off one of my guitars once and got the same effect except where yours is white mine was brown. Looked amazing and people used to be astounded by the effect.

Nah it would bug me! I agree it'd look pretty different but I'm after a perfectly smooth finish :D also decided that I'm going to paint the engine BMC green, that against the black of the interior & all the MK1/2 styling would work a treat! :D

Hmm, been having a serious think about my plan of action for getting her back on the road.. occurred to me today when I realised I didn't have a deadline to finish her off by, so I started flicking through Mini Magazine & found the event dates page, started plotting for Himley on May the 10th but that was waaay too soon and I needed more time.. so I started looking at 50th Anniversary shows in August/September.. well I've got my interview for Lincoln uni next thursday, and if I get in there I'll be leaving home for 3 years in September! :D

So then I thought to myself, why rush what could potentially turn out to be my perfect build when It'd be tucked up in the garage whilst I'm at Uni.. I'd get transfered at Tesco to Lincoln & not bothering with that girlfriend hassle again, so I'd have no reason to come home! apart from to see my lovely parents & family of course ;) but if I'm not home that often it's just gonna sit there all lonely!

Lincoln is a perfect city, off campus accommodation is only minutes away.. & anything further then I'd take my bike up and just use good ol' fashioned man power to get around, Tesco can't be that much of a walk from the City center & in the 2nd year when I move out the same applies, bike everywhere!

So in summary (& if Dad agrees :P) I can stretch out the build over a few years rather than a rushed 6 months.

Thoughts? :D

Come on, stop slacking, get motivated, onc you get started, you won't be able to stop, and will be done in no time, if you start leaving it, you would come home to more holes, and more problems.

Welder & panels! that's why I don't want to rush it all mate, whilst it's off the road I'd want to do a proper job of it. Drop out the front subby, strip down the engine & clean that up good and proper, replace all the rusted panels (from the crossmember forwards) etc etc..

Rushing it on a skint budget just spells 'bodge'!

Waiting for the garage! don't want to do it on my driveway 'cause then I've gotta maneuver it into the garage. Which is why at the moment I'm doing mainly 'cosmetic' jobs and tidying it up as best I can before I can get cracking with stripping her down. Next task after I finish getting all the sound-deadening off the floor is sorting the electrics 100% and making sure they are all nice and tidy, hopefully by then the garage is gonna be ready & I can move into the garage & get a move on :dontgetit:

I'm not loosing interest in anyway at all! want to get this on the road as much as you lot want me too :teehee:
