The bracket is to hold the bottom of a splash guard on bud.

Looks good. Are the crank threads alright?
Have you seen my for sale ads in the engine section?

ha well i'm very pleased with how little rust is around the rear quarter and the rear window, thought it was going to be a lot worse!

Looking good! Steady progress. Whats next on the hit list once you get paid?

cheers, it's just little bits and bobs to keep me going.
well i've got some debts to pay off, girlfriend is in aus at the moment so my phonebill might be quite silly.. but.. rebuild the engine back up and get my bits sandblasted, maybe powdercoated if i can afford that as well. oh and my sump plug helicoiled.

If your definetely going to get your subframes powdercoated, id save the money for the sandblasting as it will just rust again if you wait till you can afford to powdercoat.

Not an interesting update, but still an update.

Rang around today to find out some prices for my sand blasting needs, a bloke near me quoted £85 per subframe to be shotblasted and painted in 2k paint.. which isn't really want I want at all.

Came here and mini_mad_daps suggested a bloke in Long Eaton, about 20ish miles from here, so I phoned him up and he's quoted me a rough price of £80ish for both subframes to be sandblasted and powdercoated, along with a box of various brackets and pullies.

I'm chuffed, payday this Friday so I can get a few bits ordered.. planning on MITP so I'll only order the light bits & most importantly a cone compressor so I can get this front subby stripped and ready for revamping.

& yeah just hit MITP and buy the heavy, bulky and everything else there.

Also going to buy some primer & start sorting some rust out.. around the roof gutter & rear window quarters.

Excited >_<

Sounds like a plan!

I wish some of the shows were closer to me, theres a few big bits I'd like to go and get myself to save on postage and stuff but usually the shows are like a 400 mile round trip for me. Ah well.

Have you got yourself a welder yet Luke?

Just ordered a few cans of Etch primer >_<

I'm lucky to have a few shows around me, they aren't close but well within traveling distance. Wish there were some mini shops closer though!

Ahh a welder.. that's the next dilemma, Dad and I have talked about this and he thinks I should take my mini to Weld All, a company literally a few minutes drive out of the village, I've no idea what sort of welding they do.. but I get the impression it's quite heavy duty stuff and a classic car is too.. detailed and precise? they wouldn't check panels gaps & keep the welds clean etc.. plus the cost of paying someone else to do it is another matter.

I'm really up for buying a welder myself and practicing on the panels I cut off, it's a skill I'd love to learn and I think I'd get the hang off. I wouldn't go near the mini until I'm ready.
