I overtook a ferrari on the nurburgring in my mini on one of the sharp corners then he past me a few corners later, after the lap when i parked up the bloke came up to me & shook my hand & basically said well done & asked if the vtec was hard to fit, when i told him it was only a 1380 his face was a picture. he asked why i was going so slowly a few corners later which i explained that id cooked my brakes & the pedel was hitting the floor. only go as fast as you can stop!

:( I so hope that was in your estate, such a shame it wasn't filmed for U tube

It's great living near Santa-Pod, after every weekend you'll always see some poor blighters car in the ditch at the top of the road.
If you've been, you'll know the corner.
We've seen all cars in there in the year we've been in the area, the best one was a scooby, all polished up he was... ha,ha.
We were lucky enough to have Mini in the Park last year... funny, I never saw any minis in the ditch that day....

just a silly way to end up dying, racing a rubbish old vauxhall.
wouldn't try it on a roundabout especially.
how long have you been driving, not long i assume

And I seem to remember you're only 17? And seeing as it was 666junky's mum that was driving, I would hazard a guess that she knows what she is doing behind the wheel. Everybody does it, its the whole point of driving a mini.

Not really a story of my racing prowess, but used the mini to go to work in on Saturday Morning, WOOO HOOO a deserted industrial estate(6.30am) and loads of piddly roundabouts!!

What Fun

Don't think I broke the speed limit once but had so much fun squealing the tyre it should have been illegal!!

Had some chav's try to race me round a few island the other day, got quite a bit of distance between them then hit the brakes and turned into a garage. A few seconds later they went flying past but the chav in the passenger seat was just laughing at his mate.
Always puts a smile on my face.

Shouldnt race on a public highway now should you :(

I tend to just ignore numpties like that. If they think they're quicker than me, Im not going to stoop to their level and act like a prat racing through the streets. Its really not worth it. Ive had a few people try to do it at lights, and the classic numpties on the motorway that speed up when they see its a mini just about to over take them. If I get anyone tailgating me then I immediately slow down, thats one of my pet hates, and since 2 people have gone into the back of me in 6 months, tailgating me now makes me nervous and VERY angry.

I must admit though I have noticed lately the amount of people that pull out on me on roundabouts when Im in the mini its like they think 'oh its only a mini Ive got loads of time'. Well you're wrong because we can probably get round that corner quicker than you!

It doesnt make it soud big or cool if you 'beat another car' just makes it sound like you are as bad as them. If they want to think they'd win in a race just let them think that, its not hurting you,you know that your mini is better, why play along. Anti social driving is extremely stupid, immature and dangerous. Not to mention illegal. You only need someone to witness this behaviour and hand your car details into the police. Its not worth it..

There was a blue estate in the ditch if i remember. Me JetBLICK and starmag1275gt passed it, we would have stopped but there were already aprox 12 cars stopped.

Who said anything about racing...?

It's not racing, you can just corner quicker than a lot of cars.

Today I was pootling along at 60 on a dual carriageway, and a TVR went past at about 75-80 I'd say, but there was a roundabout pretty soon so he started slowing right down. I just stayed in the left lane, braked to about 50 and went round the outside of him and ended up back in front of him on the other side. As he overtook again he gave me a big thumbs up. That's what I call a good time in your Mini. You know you've just out-cornered a TVR, and the other driver was appreciative of your cornering :(

I didn't do it to teach him a lesson or show him I've got a 12 foot willy, I did it because I can.

roundabouts and corners are a minis best friend...hills are not! ive played with a few beamers, skylines and the likes round roundabouts...doesnt last long tho. ive also had some epic overtaking battles on emptyish dual carriageways with...errrrm...transit vans :D

You want to be careful, some of the new ones are getting a 3.5 litre Petrol V6... They may make you look very silly indeed...

Well said Raz! :teehee:

I dont bother with it, I know that probably 98% of cars on the road are quicker than my mini, with it being a completely standard 998!! I just enjoy the bends and roundabouts at my own pace! :D
