Yeah I know now, £400 worth of work and labour costs
Its mostly electrical though, Hen's wires are...well...quite frankly...a mess! Lights are playing up so much! Grr!

Worst bit was this - she's got 3 patches of rott on the driver's sill, and because each patch is so close together, I've gotta have the sill replaced, otherwise if the guy weld's it, it'll be even worse next year come MOT time. So cheaper to just replace it now rather than paying for welding and replacement next year.

The little rubber part - it's a steering gaitor! I remembered! hehe need that fitting for it to pass :errr: *sighs*

Love that number plate, pity it's not on a mini! Any particular reason why your not getting a mini for a run around? or do you just want to stay faithful to your Baby?! :o ;)

Head cold is ok, but I'm getting blinding headaches :dontgetit:

Ouch :gimme: pockets feel a bit lighter? thats not good but its all worth it in the end. and your deffintely doing teh right thing getting the whole sill welded. if a jobs worth doing, its worth doing properly. and NO OVERSILLS! :P

ah never had to do a steering gaitor. several driveshaft gaitors yes, but steering no. im sure thatll be fun to do.

tis a cool number plate, the whole car was lovely. looked like a little british version of a muscle car :P just realised, this other one being a deluxe and not a GLS, has the standard square headlights and no tacho :o doesnt look so mean and muscle car like. though as it doesnt have teh sporty dials with a tacho its got an amzingly retro cool rectangular speedo :mrcool: :mrcool: going to go on the viva forum to find out if the lights and grille are an easy swap or if the back plate is different (which i think it is :o) i dont want to go chopping the car up!

im looking at minis too, just nothings come up thats suitable or good enough, apart from one ages ago i let slip through my fingers on ebay. im looking for eother a mini, a polo GT, any other insurable and interesting classic that catches my eye (yes david, including lada riva's :P) or a cheap as possible runaround. the latter would be very useful as then i could go up and down the country looking for the others and find the right one.

aw, doesnt sound too fun. hope you get better soon. poor heather and henrietta, both poorly! :dontgetit:

Twiglett the dremal is good, what did the salt do to the ally Oli? I use old tooth brushes and a dremal for the finish and to clean I use a bath of gunk and then i blast it with stream sorts it out.

yeah thanks mike and andrew, i forgot about dremels. my dads got one he only bought to do some stuff on baby. ill have to nick that  as for the salt...hmmmm...would have helped if i thought about that before really. forgot all about the salt. dont know how much it will have affected it. its got coating of something that makes it look all dull, needs a polish to bring back teh original look. so dont know, maybe thats the product. thanks for the gunk tip though, ill do that on my working carb. maybe ill just hang the other up in the garage as an artpiece or something :ermm:

yeah i keep checking but nothing takes my fancy or is within my distance at the moment. also must be a 998 due to insurance being silly for a 1.3 for no good reason. was there something you had spotted?

thanks for that mike. but i still would have nowhere to put it and no transport for the shell. i think just for originality and for the fun of it im going to keep going with my shell for the time being. at least get full circles opinion on it.

just lost out on that other viva by £20 because i wasnt paying attention! >_< this is really doing my nut in now! i need a car! might just buy a fiesta in pembury thats come up for sale. bit more than i want to pay but it looks nice, is modern (99), and is right there and reliable. then at last ill be able to go and see cars i really want to buy. >_< now where's my stress ball?!

ok, update on the car situation, as in the working one i am hoping to get...

between us, my dad and i managed to buy this. havent seen it so we have no idea what its like, at that price i fear for the worst but it has 11 months MOT! luckily he was on his account so i only pay for it if it turns out to be good and i keep it. otherwise, we'll fix it up and sell it at a profit (but when its fixed up ill buy it off him anyway :()

I have also been offered the Viva i missed out on on saturday for £600. i do really really like this so its a really difficult decision if the mini turns out to be good! thing is, is that this is near mint! i know its not a mini but it is quite rare and something different!

anyway, the way we're playing it is go to pick up the min saturday morning and depending on the condition and work it needs, get the viva or leave the viva  3 months without a working car and within teh space of a day i might have 2 ;D

haha exactly. but the pictures dont show much. looks like could be a bit patchy round the a panels, but then it does say the paints been touched up. so it could be loads of filler and pics dont show sills, floor, boot floor, arches. could be really quite nasty! but we can hope! *crosses fingers and touches wood*

oh oh ;) sorry!

the mini wasnt bad, but needed a lot of little bits doing, as well as some bodywork things, and a completely crap attempt at colour matching! i couldnt live with it like that and decided it would cost so muchg to sort it out i would rather wait for a nice mini to come along.

sooo, i got the viva! :teehee: to be honest, its really nice and something different (dont worry, i wont be away from minis for long) needs very little work, body is almost immaculate, only 38000 miles, and most of all after 3 months, i have a car! also has a weber in the boot so im on your tail david :teehee:

at the end of the day, i saw what £605 would get you in terms of a mini, and what £570 would get you for a viva 11 years older, and its worth it. i will hopefully have a mini by may next year, probably at the expense of the viva.

dont be dissapointed with me :w00t:
