If thats proper basecoat is requires 2k lacquer over the top once dry, only 2k Paint which is the colour which you mix with hardener is direct gloss.

There is all diffrent paints I have found. there is cellulose paint and laquar/ clear, also there is 2k that you can either prime as a base coat then gloss colour top coat no need for laquar/clear unless you want to or 2k base/colour coat then 2k laquar/ clear
Your using celly are you not Dave if so ignore the 2k stuff and just continue as you are as you said your doing colour then clear which is how you do celly so I have been told lol

Cellulose doesnt need clear, it will just flat and polish up to a shiny finish,
