I think it's just man flu! Worse than swine flu! Judging by what you've done so far that is nothing to hard to do for you, and so what, a pleb did your paint job, just make sure that you do it properly! :) You're car will be awesome no matter what!
Whereas my car is just the spaceframe and a load of bits. I'm currently doing my "fast road" engine re-build. Self made stage 1 cylinder head mods, self made inlet manifold mods, 1 3/4 su, balanced stuff, 266 kent megadime cam, +60" overbore on 1275 A block, aldon dizzy, fast road clutch, 1.5:1 rockers, and the best of all, Gold engine paint!
Then it's gonna have adjustable suspension, disc brakes all round with golf mk2 rear calipers on the back, and all that jazz.
I will get it set up on a rolling road to get timing, ignition and fuel settings right.
Then i hope she will gooo!
Max

Well I havn't been to well myself now for about two weeks, so thats why progress was slow last week ;) , but a lot better now :errr: , but not the best. Yer thats why I'm taking my time now, don't want it to look bad, but it won't be great as I've done it, and its been done outside, etc. But hey ho, not all minis can be perfect lol ;) . Yours sounds great  , nice build you have going there, are you going to get a project thread up?

So...it was more cosmetic work after work today  . And it began with more filling, then sanding, and more filling, and more sanding, yada yada, but in the end I managed to get a good technique for filling, and got some good finishes on some of the holes:

I know they don't look the best in the pictures, but they are to the best of my ability, at the moment. i'm kind of hoping that I wasn't going to have to do any more filling, but there are still a few imperfections showing, so I'm going to have to sort them ;) . A the sanding down, god that aches your hand ;) , but just hoping it all turns out ok in the end. I have Friday booked off work, long weekend  , so should hopefully get quite a bit done, well...I hope so :techsupport: .

Ok...now for some updates. I managed to get the from end smoothed off as much as I could today, only took me about 7 hours  , but its done now, and to the best of my ability ;) , so here are some pictures:

And then I gave it a few coats of etch primer:

Posted Image

And now come a step back :) :

Posted Image

Some of the etch primer is reacting  , not a lot, and not everywhere, but I'm not sure how you go about correcting this, but I'm sure its a sand back method :o .

Anyway on a lighter not, got my suspension bits today:

Posted Image

So they should be fitted before Tuesday, hopefully :P .

Now another slight downer. I rang MED up today to talk to them about my piston options, and yet again, the "Why are you supercharging a 998?" question came out. And all the other comments  . And he also wanted £450 for some Omega pistons :o . So now I'm going to see if I can source my own pistons from somewhere :) . At least I know the work will get done :) .

So now I'm pretty annoyed with everything thats happened today, just going to see what happens tomorrow :) .

I could set up a thread, but i need to start building it first lol! :) I'm going down to the stoneleigh kit car show this weekend to have a nosey at other buggies, and to stock up on bits

Good work still though mate, that question would annoy me if i was set on building a supercharged 998 (which i really would like to do, or a 1098).

Good luck for tomorrow :xxx:

Haha well set up one when you start building then, I would be interested in looking at something like that. Hop you get plenty of bits :P .

I was going to do a 1098, but looking for acceleration more than anything, so wanted the high revving from the 998 :D .

Well...I went out on the mini this morning, and sanded off the reacted primer :( , and now it all looks cr*p  . And I can't be bothered to fill in the places that have gone cr*p :dontgetit: , but if I feel like it tomorrow I will. No pictures of the work today I'm affraid as its just the same as the last ones lol :P .

And I have also decided against the idea of de-bumping the rear due to the way I'm doing the front, not very good  . However, I am still going to replace the rear valance, but have opted for something like a black bumper :) , or even better...and carbon fibre one ;).

Like these from Carbon Weezel:

Posted Image

;)

But they are £195 for a pair :o and I will only want one ^_^ , but I'm sure I can get someone to go halfs with me :shy: , ahem James ;) .

So when I get around to the front end of the mini again, I will fill in the imperfections, if I feel like it  , flat off the primer, go over with the black, then laquar, and then its all done ;) .

liking the smooth look at the front now the holes have been filled and smoothed.

lol, i've looked at those CF bumpers before, but like you, I only need one, so didnt bother. They do look very nice though.
