whats the exact reason for pocketing a block?

New bits are looking nice,
the cam I got is probably too wild for a supercharged engine really, plus they have to be made to order (pretty sure),
did they hone the block?

Might just go for a mild road cam then with the 1.5 rockers, I was told that would be a perfect set up for the cam anyway . Erm...I think they did, I'll go and check in a minute .

As its a 998 block, I wanted a 1275 head on it, and the pockets are to let the valves clear as the 1275 head is too big without them .

The pockets are about 4mm deep, and it looks like it has been honed, but its all away in my shed at the moment, so could really see .

So today, not really done a lot , recieved a nice big box of stuff though :



Most of the stuff to rebuild my gearbox. The only thing I can think of at the moment that I have missed out is the idle bearing , but thats not a problem as its what the layshaft goes on to, and that is one of the last things to go in . So really I just cleaned up a few bits, changed a few bearings and changed a few seals, but hoping to gt a lot done tomorrow .

Through uni i was never out of my overdraft lol. Took my placement year to get out of it. And i'll be back in it next year .

Not done a lot today , attempted to finish off rebuilding the gearbox, instead I just lost one of them stupid ball bearings and tried to clean a few engine bits, instead I just created more mess than I started with. So today I'm bored and p*ssed off with the mini , hope tomorrow is better .

Managed to drag myslef out and get a box of bits for the engine cleaned and ready to be Nitromorsed and sprayed up, just hope I can get some more done tomorrow :
