Your rgt Emma, dont rush it to just get it ready for a set date, its not worth it! you done so much work and youll only be disapointed if you rushed it and you wouldnt be happy with it in the end. i love the grey arches and grille and mirrors, they looks so much like there new!! Keep up the good work and enjoy yourself at Newquay, think you deserve a few wkd's and have some fubn and relax and talk minis and life and did i say minis lol .

they haven't given me any free WKD yet, not happy!!! (might have to rob the 2 bottles of merridown cider in our office tho) LOL

the arches and mirrors are new!! LOL, i'm really happy with the finish on the mirrors as they are meant to ne textured, and i started with smooth ones, which now have a lovely textured effect!!

and the grille was a £10 bargain, with one of the slits bent in a bit, which dad pulled out, and a few spots of surface rust

i''m hoping that i'll come home to some lovely new nimbus(yukon) grey bumpers, and hopefully a rebuilt cailper and fitted gear linkage!!, i can hope!!!

i think i try and forget about the sky when i'm in newquay and enjoy my lovely green mini (and spoil him with new tyres for my 13*7 compomotives, which i'm itching to get on) vrrom vrooom vrooooom

i've had a wicked weekend at riv run, but my green mini like to keep me on my toes, and the crank pulley bolt undid itself and was rolling around my rad housing!!!!!, i heard a rattly noise from the engine, but it was driving fine, just sounding like something was flying around my engine, so i was all ready to take my 1330 out this weekend and put my old 1275 back in...., untill my friends had a quick look and saw the bolt being bounced around in the rad housing, which is lucky, because if it had fallen out of the engine bay i would never of known it had gone.....

so quick trip down to the show there, picked up a new bolt, lock tab and socket, and replaced the bolt!! love minis!!, i'm so chuffed that my engines alright, its quite random and scary!!!!

anyway, the writting i put on the windows, with our random club sayings!!

whoop whoop it was a amazing weekend, it felt like we were there for about a week, i'm so loking foward to my bed tonight tho!!!

i came home this morning and started on the sky

the bumpers that dad primed for me, (and rubbed down the primer!!! Love him)
Posted Image

that seam strip stand is really usufull!!!!

i think they will be painted in the next few days, depending on when dad can do it

then i got the door out and started to flat down the runs

Posted Image

it was sooo dirty!!!

so flatted

Posted Image

i got a bit carried away in one place and went straight down to primer, and around the door scoop has gone thru the paint, but i was trying to get the run out of it, its impossible, then on the bottom of the door dad missed a bit, so it will need a few touch ups

then i started on the passenger wing, half scuttle and rear quarter, the scuttle needs a little bit more flatting down, but the rest of the side is fine,

Posted Image

so the plan, tomorrow night flat down the other door and bonnet, and boot, then wednesday make seat covers and go to local club meet, thursday, flat the rear panel, and drivers side, (its much better than the passenger), then friday, start with the polisher!!!, so hopefully by the end of the weekend it will all be polished up, ready to put everything back on!!!!

i'm loving how dirty it got just sat there!!! LOL

quick update,

i've rubbed down the other door, boot and bonnet, so they are ready for final polishing now!!, so i've just got a few bits on the rear panel, one little run on the driver rear quater, a few runs on the scuttle and a few on the a panel, then a few bits in the paint on the drivers wing, hopefully i'll get this done tonight, then i can spend the weekend polishing it up!!! whooop whoop

i've had a bit of a busy weekend on the sky, during the week, i finished flatting the paint ready for polishing

so saturday, i got the G3, G10, polisher and polishing rags and polished him up

Posted Image

then polished and waxed him

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

well shiney!!!!, i love it, the paint to soooo silky smooth!!!, there are still a few imperfecions in it, but its a mini, its not a full blown concours car, and if it was i wouls be scared to damage it!!!,

so i finished that about 3 on saturday, then built up the brakes

Posted Image

Posted Image

rebuilt capilers, with stainless pistons, and of course greenstuff brake pads!!!, the old pistons were well seized in the capiler!!, even tho they drove fine!!!

my wheels arrived back from the tyres fitters

Posted Image

then dad fixed my leak for the gear change, and refitted the linkage
Posted Image

and poured loads of 3 and 1 oil in where the stick comes out, because its REALLY tight and hard to get into gear!!, so its a bit looser now, but it always was tight!!!

so today,

after faffing around with dodgy connectors, - headlight earth, where the iginition switch plug into the loom the main brown wire had came out of the connector somehow!!!, and a dodgy inline fuse holder, i now have side lights, tails lights, dash lights, headlights, main and dip, indicators, hazards (even tho we we left they only worked on the drivers side...), wipers, and the engine turns on the key (i disconnected the coil as it was getting a bit hot, and its got not fuel!!), and reversing lights

pics

Posted Image

lit up

Posted Image

rear

Posted Image

freshly painted bumpers and repainted door

Posted Image

Posted Image

fitted the fuel tank

Posted Image

and pumped it in underneath, and tightened the brake line to the rear sub

so we've left it tonight with the headlinnig in place
Posted Image

it looks a bit pants, but it has stretched out a bit more since then, we are gonna leave it over night to settle, then tomorow glue it in!!!

dads also spent about 2 hours fitting a fog light - i'm really not too sure how, but its on, but we didn't have the switch there to test it!!

so the plan, because its always good to have a plan

finished the headlining
build up the dash, refit the wiper rack and bezels, fit all the glass,
fit the boot and bonnet
number plates
fit the bumpers/arches and sill strips
fit the carpets/heater/ rear doorcards and seats
then fit the doors and build them up,

then MOT!!!! all in a couple of weeks!!!! happy days!!

its all good

and my fav pic of the day

I'm Enoying this thread alot. i have great respect for a Girl who knows her Cars. In the US 90% of the woman doesn't even know how to lift the hood(bonnet) on a car let alone Refurbish One. Your doing a great work. The Mini Sky and Mini Rose are one of my Favorite styles of Mini.
