Hey Em,

Did I see you in the congested traffic at the Exeter/Westpoint/Service part of the M5 this afternoon?

It was me that whipped down the exit.

I only caught a glimpse in my rear view and I thought it was you.

yeah that was me - damn county show!!! LOL

(by the way your exhuast is quite low in the middle)

and wish i could of got off at that exit, took me a hour and a quarter to get home last night, not happy!!!

Ouch thats a long time from there!

The exhaust was hanging low (unbeknown to me) as the nut had come off the middle bracket which in turn made the rear one break when I was on the A361 yesterday.

Managed to bodge it up with a spare boot cable I had in the boot to get me to the nearest exhaust place which happened to be ATS in Tiverton who didnt charge me!

Im so hoping you get the Sky ready for Bristol! I cant wait to see it.

It's been a while since I've had time to poke my head in and have a look at this and I tell you what, you work, FAST!

It's gone from bits and bobs being paint to a complete car in 60 seconds!

That's an amazing thing in itself but when you roll in the quality of the work you've done. Very, very impressive!

I bet you can't wait to get behind the wheel :).

i can't quite believe it either!!!

and i went for a drive eariler!!!!

the A380 was blocked so i went thru teignmouth which was BAD!!! - i should know not to go there by now - i should take my sat nav and go down the back lanes!!

well done on fixing your exhuast, it did look like it was wobbling about a bit, and good news on fixing it for free!!!!

well

day 2

Been for a test run!!! whoop whoop

drives like it always used to beauifully, the only problem with this is i forget i've spent the best part of 8 months rebuilding it and drive it like i used to when it was a shed....

Skimmed - managed to get to 40mph in 2nd down the farm lane Whoop whoop!!!!

seriously tho - i really should give it a bit more care

and the review

pulls amazingly for a 998 - as it always did - sweet as engine
brakes fine - just the pedal sticks down, and is really low - i don't like it mine is right at the top
tracking is all over the place - easy fix
tick over is low - easy fix again
gearbox  - tight as!!!, its gonna take some serious getting used to, you've gotta know where the gears are and be forceful to get it in, took me a good few mins to get it in reservse - again tho age old thing about the sky, its always been tight - and if you push it too far forward in first to sounds like its grinding a bit - i forgot that bit!!!

but its GREAT fun to drive i love it sooooo much, i just gotta get used to the higher driving position....

so pics

all went quite well today apart from it rolling back about a foot when i was fiddling with the doorcards

and we had to take the locks off because the internal door openers were on the wrong side!! DOH

and we had to put some brown seatbelts in for a bit till the grey ones arrive :)

so after fitting the bits and bobs and interior, and covering the seats so we didn't get them dirty

i'll put the front trims on when the tracking is sorted

some more pics, because i was just spending 20 mins just looking at what i've made!!! god knows how it happended, it has just all come together and looks stunning - it gonna take me a while to see it as a really nice mini - i still see it as the shed we brought 2 and a half years ago....

Posted Image

Posted Image

and the first time in 2 and half years the garage was empty for more than 10 mins!!!

Posted Image

well ish - a massive clear out is planned whoop whoop - just gotta persuade dad to throw stuff away!!!

so then i thought chalk and cheese

its not finished yet - obviously but there are only a few things left to do, one of the main ones is a battery clamp - MOT fail

then seal the side and rear windows, put the decals and pinstripe on, tracking etc sort the problems out, oil change, fit a cigeratte lighter and proper stereo and speakers in a under seat board,

hopefully the MOT will be sometime during the week, then it will be a case of caining some miles on it before going to bristol

but WOW

MOT is booked for thursday evening!!!

traking is done,

(rear wheel bearings and radius arm pins tightened)

brakes tests and now skidding in a straight line (much better than when we first started and it was heading for a hedge....) (and dad REALLY struggled with the gears mainly reverse!!!!)

battery clamped down

stereo fitted whoop whoop

tomorrow night is seal the side and back windows, fit the decals, and sort the wiring after i had to change where the stereo and cig lighters fits the alarm has nowhere to go :-,

MOT passed!!! whoop whoop

it drove lovely on the roads - apart from the sticking brake pedal....

so the plan is to tax it tomorrow in my lunch, then go for a lovely drive in the evening, to bed things in a bit ( and hopefully this will help with the brake pedal)

then saturday Bristol!!! whoop whoop
