Not updated this in a long while.

Unfortunetely I havent really felt like doing much at the moment as I knew without a job it wouldnt get done to the way I wanted it, plus I decided to go on holiday for a few weeks just to get away from it all, which I feel a lot better for :)

Anyways I got a job on Saturday full-time, so I feel on top of the world at the moment, i'm sure some can appreciate that. So its full steam ahead again

Found a place in Warrington the other day that can do the shot blasting and powder coating for me, so im having both subframe done in black and the back-plates for the drums and the subframe mounts done in red. One of the subframes is already powder coated (bought like that) but there are some spots where it wasnt fully rid of old grease and oil and sprayed over, plus I was afraid they wouldnt look the same colour, so its just for peace of mind really. With a bit of luck they will be ready tomorrow but most certainly this week, so me and my dad can crack on this weekend

Once thats done, the subframes will be put on the mini and we will get it rolling, then it will be booked in for spray again! :genius: ! :D ! :) ! :) ! :) ! :w00t: ! :w00t: !

Thats all I have for an update other than 'mini in a bucket' turned up, just waiting on one thing for him to send me though as he had to order it in. Also my other purchase has arrived :P pics to follow next update hopefully :P

Right well the subframes and other bits have been powdercoated :) Really pleased with the result, although he said he was going to ring me when they were done but he wrote the number on his hand and then later the day he washed his hands :( so lucky I got my dad to nip in when as he went past today, he was relieved lol

Anyways pictures!

The backplates look better than new! So happy with the result, would definetely recommend the place and just in general getting parts powdercoated :withstupid:

Plan is to ideally get the shell rolling tomorrow (even gave up going out tonight to be up early lol) so I can phone the bodyshop and they can pick the shell up later in the week, with a bit of luck that is ;)

Comments please.

Cost me £80 for shotblasting and powdercoating.

Made some good progress this weekend considering all the hiccups I had. The mini is so close to rolling, just need to get the rear subframe on now, although it is built up, so with a bit of luck it will just bolt on but I know it wont because a couple of holes didnt align last time. If I do get the rear on tomorrow, hopefully the shell will be at the bodyshop this week :( Forgot the camera again when going down the garage both today and yesterday, sorry, but I will be down there tomorrow, so will get some pics then.

Also put in an order for some rustbullet for the underneath for the bodyshop to apply and latches for the kevlar front end to be fastened.

Chris ;)

That was for the subframes when I originally asked, extra £15 for the other bits. Will be going back a load of other stuff now to get other bits done after the spray. That was a cash deal by not going to reception but round the back to the warehouse manager

The place was called Flare Powder Coating, they have a website I think.

Anyway I have finally got the mini rolling and without the cones on it is riding lowwwww haha. Once again I forgot the camera to take a blooming pic but I will be nipping down tomorrow so will get a pic then. Fair to say I was absolutely buzzing when it was on its wheels :genius:

The dreaded shafts peeking through, actually had to take the boot off again to get them to fit through the hole in the subframe! Why didnt anyone tell me!

The red powdercoating looks the nuts I think coming through the arch.

Nice to see you like it, no one seems to >_<

Your ahead on the engine side of things though which i'll be sorting when the shell goes. Finally feel like im going somewhere with this project now

Also the latches are awesome mate, so well made and the spring sends the thing that attaches across the room haha. Buy them! You still got the link?

I suppose I am on that side >_<, should have my subbys sorted within the next couple of weeks as well! when is your deadline?

Yep still got them bookmarked, is it me or are the latches different colours? just the lighting?

There different, but dont perform differently. I had to order a seperate left and right, but i dont see why that would change the colour (dont think its a different material).

Deadline is sometime next year haha. Its just money i've thought about it so much (over 2 years), 'how I can make it the best I can?' that i've got a list on excel that is unbelievable, the stuff ive got on it is completely unecessary but it just wouldnt feel complete to me (not that they ever do). the only really expensive bits now besides the spray is interior ( leather seats) and engine bits.

I'll ring up and see about the colours, only a little insignificant thing but it would annoy me that they are different colours!

Ah next year sometime >_< I've got L2B as a deadline, fingers crossed!

What sort of engine spec are you aiming for, fairly standard?

L2B is a comfortable deadline to have, just under a year, i'd be up for that, want to do L2B at some point anyways. Just something to aim for, not to fussed if I wish it by a month.

Hinges dont really annoy me as you can't even see them  although I may see about powdercoating when I next go if its possible >_<

Engine to be honest im not quite sure, but certainly not as it came off the production line haha its a 1293 to start with, don't plan on spending any real money on it till I'm getting ready to put it in, got a wishlist of bits that are simple to put on from MED, but obviously expensive as it high quality from there. Something like £600 of bits, its mainly about getting the mchanics light for me, for a smoother engine.

I rang up Europa, apparently they are different colours! Powdercoating would look nice! esp. in black so they are more subtle.

Are you going to make some sort of brace bar like Oz did? don't think it's necessary, but the extra support would be nice.

Same as me really, i'm fine with a 998cc stage 1, with nice bits like a Duplex timing chain & then replacing things like the followers, oil pump etc.. just to keep things smooth & happy.

I'll have a think about the powdercoating.

I might do the brace bar on the panel, see if I can it done at the bodyshop with no extra money :)

Going to have to save up some money first before I buy bits for the engine and stuff, can't wait!

My other item turned up today, its the VIP paint I mentioned earlier in the thread, got from a place that Jordie pointed me towards, Alpha Paints, very good service, ordered it yesterday and it turned up today :D happy days!
