Could split the head and de-coke that? clean up the chambers & pistons.

& are you doing anything to hide the screws holding the 'lock bar' for the catches on the front?

Yeh Graham at the sprayshop place said he would be able to put some caps on them and spray them the same colour, he could have bonded them on but he didnt think they would be strong enough especially going over a period of time. Not sure if im going to be able to get fully away with no fixings showing due to the bonnet on there but we'll see. My idea was to have a two piece so you couldnt fully tell that it wasnt metal which it won't hopefully just ideally not wanting bonnet pins on the bonnet but if needs must....

Already played with the head cleaning etc before I started the thread so I know its all good it there :thumbsup:

Thanks Jackman! Noticed you making good progress with the clubman regards welding :ermm:

Think its going to be a while till I get back the shell to be honest, there doing inbetween their busy periods and a lot of work had come in for them so don't think its going to get touched till next week. Hopefully have it back befre the December month though and then I can work on it all through winter in the cold....again :sneaky:

Working in winter isnt as bad as you think to be honest. Ive done it a few times. Jeans, t-shirt and a jumper. Start with a jacket but after you get into the swing of things it warms up nicely especially if your in a garage... i normally work on the drive but im trying to sort the garage out so i can work in there with all the rain we keep having.

Yeah its coming along, slowly mind but ill get there.

Don't try pulling the wool over my eyes Jackman its freezing in the winter working on the mini especially in Manchester although I would agree it does get a little bit warmer once you get into the swing of things

Yeh im tidying the garage whilst the mini is out of there and I gotta say it looking pukka at the moment with everything organised, I can actually put tools down and then find them again now!

Found out today I made a mistake with the minispares order with regards discount because I ordered it through my account and the discount was originally applied to my mums :) all sorted for next time now though I think, just a shame I lost 6 pound something this time :)

Cheers Oz

Really glad I went with the frontend in the end and your idea with the latches was birlliant and simple, think I am going to try and run some sort of pull to the inside of the mini to open it, just need to think how. Think I will be needing your help with the pedalbox though, is there anything that I would be best doing before the shell is resprayed?

Got my order from minispares yesterday which was nice and has arrived quickier than my first order thanks to Simon so at the weekend I'll get the clutch off and see what we have but just looking at it all attached it looks like new :) Will get a pic up of what ive got when the other order arrives :P

Meh whats 10 miles more up North. Plus thats not fog thats smoke from all them fires you keep on having :)

Got my other order from minispares today which was good, love opening packages from them :)

In the 2 orders ive got;

-Flywheel Puller
-Right Hand Tank Fitting Kit (Question below)
-Another set of straps for the Left Hand Side Tank
-Suspension Cones (Genuine)
-Heater Cable
-Choke Cable
-Engine Mounts with captive nuts
-MK2 Steering Cowl (Without ignition hole)

The early choke and heater cable look awesome in my opinion and better than the later ones with surprisingly smaller knobs on them.

Spot the difference in Suspension Cones :goaway:

Now question for someone who can help;

How do you fit the Right Hand Tank Fitting Kit? Where do the brackets go and get bolted on to etc. Had a look at the fitting instructions on minispares and it just has the list of parts of which they are attached, useless to me. Would really like to know where the mounts/brackets as I would like to attach them to the shell and get them sprayed snowberry white with the shell so they don't look like an add on obviously. Any help would be much appreciated or direct me towards a thread on here? Did a search but didnt have much luck.

Couple of pics to reference to :teehee:

Nice haul! suspension cones seem so expensive for what they are :goaway:

& can I have some good photos of the two new cables :) I'm replacing mine for some earlier ones, my current ones have be totally stretched & destroyed over the years.

Thanks, getting to the bits where you feel like you arent getting much for money now, that lot tops over £250!!! And thats with the more expensive items in the first order having 15% shaved.

Yeh the cones are expensive for what they are but I guess it boils down to you get what you pay for. Did look at the coil ones but heard mixed reviews so I thought best play safe.

Will have a go at getting some pics for you, tried earlier but trying the balance them in you hand whilst taking apic isnt the easiest haha especially because the knob is small so it struggles to focus in but I'll have another go, no worries.

More like 20 miles sir unless your on about how the crow flys?

And shhh.... i had another fire last weekend :thumbsup:

Right less of the spam on your topic.

As for the right hand tank, i think one bracket goes on the floor, i have never seen one and cant think of someone with one on the forum.

Love seeing new parts :D
