installed the two riveted panels each side of the spare tire hole, then installed the rear seat. had to slightly modify the seat back so it still can flip forward between the roll cage. very pleased with the results:

one major set back tho, after installing the bonnet i noticed it wasnt the same color as the car. same for the 4 doors, side window surround and gas urinal thing. notice the difference?

Posted Image

and another thing, the rear doors rubber are too thick, the doors wont close...

the guy who made my seats has sown together a bunch of lengths of fabric so that i can recover the interior panels and door cards. here's my first try on one of the rear panels. i used the same cardboard trim removed the vinyl and glued some thin foam over it (floor insulation roll bought at the hardware store :() before gluing the vinyl over everything. happy with the results!

in order to avoid a bulge where the seam is, i cut out a line in the foam where the seam is then tucked in:

here's the rear installed (sorry for the quality of the pic, i turned the flash off because it makes the red appear retina-burning-pink):

i used the same method as described above to make this 70's inspired embossing in the door cards:

Not much progress to report. i have little to no motivation left as i'm pist off each time i look at the car. the paint is below standard, there's sanding "swirlies" everywhere, the bonnet, doors, rear doors, side window trims and filler neck "urinal" are all darker than the rest of the car. the bottom edge of the rear valance is as straight as a saw blade. and the icing on the cake - the passenger door doesnt fit. i believe they didnt test it when they changed the A panel. they changed the door skin on the same door, its like a balloon at the window opening, the gap is about 1.5" in the middle...

the painter is rather uncooperative, and since i havent got the bill yet i'm thinking my wallet is gonna get fuc4ed on this one.

because of him i'm not going to be able to drive until next summer and i'm probably going to think of him every time i look at the car...

ah well

Sorry to hear that Mart! :D It really is a gorgeous estate, would be such a shame to have it tainted!

What have you put on the lip of the rear bins? I had chrome on mine before but would like something black like yours.

the trim i used is a bit like the gutter trim but smaller. there's a little bead of glue in it to help keep it in place (not the kind of glue that will rip everything off if you need to remove it). i bought it at my local hardware/car parts store... some chinese made generic brand but good quality.

By the way, when I changed the back door sealson my estate they were to thick as well. It took a lot of effort to shut the doors for the first time, I left them shut for a while and it got easier.
