Generally it doesn't matter what you drive, if they want to give you a tug they will.

Cars that stand out are obvious targets.

As long as you haven't done anything wrong and all the paperworks upto date, then don't worry!

Its surprising how many 'crooks' have been caught, just by being stopped for no reason.

I'd much rather have a copper stopping traffic, if my car got stolen for example, as a camera will only catch the buggers in action (and probably end up on a Sky program!) and pmore than likely be no use in actually catching the crims.

Where as having an active police presence, might result in more of a chance in someone getting caught 'in the act'.

More coppers on the streets would be a good start!

Oh and by the way, its not unusual for coppers to play Snooker! Ie red car = 1 point, black car = 7 points etc etc. So drive a white car, its a 4 point against foul >_<

ive still never been pulled over. nearly 2 years of driving a very lous, eye catching mini, and just over a month of driving an old saloon with a bonnet bulge that looks far too big for anyone my age to be able to be insured and driving it. but ive still not been pulled over. ive had chats to coppers about my mini but that was just when there was a road block because of an accident or something. strange.

it was in sunny coalville of leicestershire

and there isent tread out at all the said it was because the tyre was out. idiots

its like the 5th time ive been pulled and ive got a section 59 beacause it makes engine noise and some old man decided to cry about it.

If your driving standards are so bad that even another member of the public has decided to contact the police then in my opinion you deserve to be stopped.
You have been warned under sect 59 already so should be driving a little better or risk losing your car.
As for driving at 50mph round the roundabout then you go ahead but when you flip it and kill yourself or worse still kill someone else then im sure your family will want the police to do everything to help.
Cant have it both way, your the driver its your responsibility.
I had to help a 70yr old bloke yesterday knocked 30feet into the air and thrown almost as far into the main road because some kid in a fast car decided to show off to his mates.
Not funny in the slightest.
So get over being stopped you seem to be causing all the problems yourself.

Everyone who's been pulled lots probably has a marker on their car. Then the police will pull you because they think something could be wrong as it has been in the past. I personally don't think that Minis are extremly different, mines had graffiti all over it, with me at the wheel (being 17/18) and I have never been stopped. As well as doing alot of late night driving (2 or 3 in the morning).

You can usualy tell the undercover ones because they usualy have more arials.

not any more, they use same systems volvo's started, the copper wire in the windows, allow you to have many areals on one plain of glass so you dont attract attention etc

also alot of the cars arent standard so will have more bhp than book models, which are obviously undesclosed because they dont want you knowing there secrets

imo the police are doing a fine job, and i think its a great idea to pull old mini's over and have a poke around as a lot of cars have been bodged with filler and fibreglass to cover up nasty holes etc., things like mahoosive exhausts that aren't fitted correctly and leak, illegal gay blue neon things "i mean each to there own but the law is the law"

and as for speeding around roundabouts the speed limit on any roundabout is 30mph, if your tyres screatch they will ping you for driving without due care and attention >_<

and whilst we are mentioniong seat belts - if you dont wear one you a loser simple! i's a hgv driver in the RAF and when we covered the fire strikes about 6 years ago we saw all sorts of horrible things including a female driver and two infants all killed on scene due to no seatbelts. 3 POINT HARNESS FTW!!!!!!!

said my bit now.

That’s a bit of a sweeping generalisation, you know 2 cops that take drugs and they are all as bad as crooks? Seriously!?

no your right,
police are good but there are a few bad eggs....or a dozen...or more.

the point is police can be bully's and they know that and sometime they abuse their "power" for reasons only to
benifit them selves....
just my opinion.....

hey jo,wait till they find camo clothing and a gun in your boot lol

God, lets hope not!! They don't tend to look inside the car much though. Maybe young blonde girls tend you drive slow?? They obviously don't know me >_<

30mph isent fast around a roundabout at all lol

if its a 50 zone can you go 50 around the roundabout or would they just call it wrekless?

I got pulled doing 50mph round a roundabout when I was younger, the copper said it was silly and I said that it was the speed limit, I wasn't breaking it and it wasn't my fault his car couldn't keep up. He wasn't impressed.

I do think the Police do a good job but sometimes its angers me when there are people being mugged, stabbed, raped, etc and all they can do is pull me for having a modified car. Its insured, its taxed and its MOTed. I have a licence, no points no record for anything at all. Most of the Old Bill I've dealt with have been really quite nice and there have been times when they have pulled me and I've actually had a laugh and a joke with them but there are a few that seem to have it in for us.

BigMan I think your all doing a great job and TV have put my application through so I'll be one you you soon enough!!

I agree with what most people said to start with. Doing their job, your car looked dodgy so they decided to stop you for a closer look. These things happen! Might be worth adding a silencer or something to your exhaust or driving less spiritedly when there are people around. Not that I'm saying you drive like an idiot, but don't give anyone cause to complain. Magic (Civic) has a point also, if they keep pulling you then there is clearly a problem.

I couldn't agree more

This is the way that i see it as well. If everything is fine, then if you do get pulled, you don't have nothing to worry about. Just make sure that your car is in good condition as well - for example, if you have a rear light out, then you will probably get pulled, then there is nothing to stop the police nit-picking any other things wrong.

Not saying that anybody is driving wrecklessly, but if you drive fine, paperworks all good and cars in good condition you probably won't get pulled. On the off chance that you do, you will not be worried anyway!

Oh, ill remember that. Ive got a mate who absolutly hates the police because they pulled him for drivin without insurance, tax, MOT and license. Im glad they pulled him and im glad he got caught because I think its disgusting. Ive been pulled twice, 1st was for speeding and the second was because I didn't indicate at 2am when there wasnt another car on the road and the police were hiding in an alley.
I think theyve done a good job and someone has to patrol the roads. And alot of them give you a good deal of leaway, and are usualy on your side.
Doesn't help if you drive a car that stands out though, especialy a loud one.

They're just doing their job! If they didn't stop anyone at all, how would they catch criminals? You could've been someone on their wanted list...

in fairness, if he was someone they were after they would have known from the number plate etc, they dont just pull people over randomly in a vien attempt to catch ramdomers!!!

lol

i had it where i got pulled up for driving to fast in a 40 and i know i was doing only 35ish from my speedo, which is miles out, they also said my break light was out, which it wasn't.
they need to focus more on proper problems in public places not lads parked up in there cars, or people driving round,we're easy targets because our number plate gives our address and full detailes out!!

rant over!!

It's just as well that they do random checks, because that's how they caught the 'Yorkshire Ripper'.
