I get it alot.

They pull me and then see im some little blonde bird and ask where im going so late as I work evenings.

Then talk to me about the car. The Old Bill round my way are very friendly. They like my Mini, apart from some male Copper who pulled me telling me I was going to fast round a roundabout when I was only doing 30mph!! So I told him to follow me again and ill do the same speed again, then he called me a liar so I told him to sod off.

30 round a roundabout? :(

I've been pretty lucky when it comes to incidents with the Police. But I think that's more to do with my attitude towards them, than theirs towards me. Be respectful and listen to what they have to say (even if you don't fully agree with them).

I got caught doing more than double the speed limit in a 60MPH zone, and only got 6 points and a £500 fine.
That should have been a ban, but rather than being anti with the police and mouthing off when they pulled me over I accepted it as my fault and admitted it was stupid (even though I didn't think it was) and just took the bollocking/lecture on the chin. As a result the police report said that although I was driving extremely fast, there were no other vehicles on the road, conditions were good, car was in good condition, and I was obviously concentrating on my driving as the second they pulled out and put the lights on i had seen them and pulled over.

If I had been rude or gobbed off at them, they could well have just written that I was driving too fast and dangerously, which at 136mph max and averaging 106MPH over calculated distance, The judge could well have believed.

Point to note though, when I went to Court, I was the only CRIMINAL that day that dressed smart. Most wore jeans or indeed tracksuits that gave the impression they didn't really care.

another time I was sat at traffic lights in Stafford and the copeer in the car next to me wound down his window and said "you might want to check your tyres mate". So off I went to Kwik Fit with my credit card. I knew my tyres were illegal but was chancing it until pay day. I should really have gotten points that day as all 4 tyres were below req't.

I've only been pulled once, after a mini meet a couple of years ago. I spotted the police car down the road as I was leaving the meet, it followed me out of the golf club where the meet was and pulled me when I got to the dual carriageway. It was a female police officer (who was quite fit as I recall). I wound down the window and she said I hadn't done anything wrong she was just doing a random spot check and asked if I'd been drinking, I told the truth which was that I'd had a pint of Shandy about an hour ago, she said that's fine and let me go on my way. She was quite friendly and I think she just wanted a look at my mini.

Hmmm, been reading this thread with interest.

All these people who claim they've done nothing and the police have pulled them over for no good reason, not sure about that!!

I've been driving for 19odd years and only been pulled twice, once in a bright orange RS mexico with the alarm going off(and it was my car!!)

The other time was for no tax in a ratty Ford Orion.

I've been driving around in various vehicles in various states of disrepair with no problems.

The point I'm trying to make is that to be pulled over you must have given them a reason, like I did.

If you drove sensibly, with no obvious defects to your car, then you stand much less chance of being pulled, simple.

Food for thought.

I got pulled in July in my new car. I'd just driven passed a camera van and about 500mtrs down the road got pulled for No tax or MOT. Basically I'd had the car taxed etc on the Friday and they pulled me on the Sunday, their system hadn't been updated. He realised that when i pointed out the Tax disc in the window. I don't mind random checks, if it gets uninsured, un taxed and un insured cars off the road. Not to mention the drink/dru drivers and stolen cars.

More police on the roads and less cameras :)

The last time I got pulled... I kind of pulled myself.

I was on the way to the girlfriends a little late, around 1.30am, there was absolutely nobody on the roads then from nowhere a set of headlight appeared very quickly and close behind me.

Being dark and a steamed back window I couldnt see what was going on so pulled over to let them by (thinking maybe it was a drunk driver at that time, id rather let them by and carry on my way)

I pulled up, they pulled up behind me, I opened the door to see what was going on and turned out to be the Police.

Asked what I stopped for which I replied ' I thought I was being followed' to which he replied 'You were, I was about to pull you'

Jokingly I said ' Saved you a job' which he found witty. Asked me my name, which checked out on their system with my reg number, asked where I was going and if I'd had a drink, then let me on my way.

Cant say much fairer than that!

Also the copper who arrived at an accident I was involved in was more than fair and helped me prove my case with the insurance!

I think its more of how low society has gone and the Police cant cope alot of the time.

Same happened to me on the way home from my mates house. Police man walkes up the left hand side of the car, checked the tax disc and told the Mrs. who was in the passenger seat that was all he wanted to see. He explained that sometimes the police computer can take up to 2 weeks to update. He then asked a little about the car such as what work I had done and that it was noce to see young driver keeping classics on the road, which I found funny as i'm not as young as I once was.

I have great respect for anyone who joins the Police and does their job as best as possible.
It's something I've considered in the past and would still consider it today to be able to help people.

Next time you're out on the road, just think about how many idiots there are making havoc on the roads. If there was no Police you can almost guarentee this number would double. They do a job not many people could do and some of the scenes they are called to are horrific.

Yes, ok, while being pulled over by the Police for a "spot check" can be an inconvenience, would you rather they be over cautious or under-cautious? as Taffy said, they caught the yorkshire ripper this way.

Anyway, that's my view

More police on the roads, less whinging form those who get pulled for silly litle things, if your wrong your wrong end of.

Bald tyre....silly little thing......baby in car...... not strapped in ooh another silly little thing.............rain.............car left road......... baby seat left car......... baby split open! Not nice messy very messy............. Cause a silly little bald tyre and a silly little belt missing!

I was not even a traffic cop, those guys and girls see far too much carnage on the road...take a look next time you see one there either bald or grey!!!

Most people give us Plod a hard time, and it so refreshing to see that most dont mind being pulled when everythings in order.

Me i would not know how to write a ticket out and Im a supervisor, much prefere the good old rollocking !!!!

Right thats it. Thise who know know, those who whinge clearly dont they only think they do!

Most of the Old Bill around my area are either really friendly or really shexy!! So I'm more than happy to be pulled over if it involves either a joke or a perv!!

totally agree with big man, voice of experance at the end of the day.
if you look after ur car, then theres nothin to worry about, cudnt be simplier.

have been pulled a few times myself, mostly spot checks.
pulled once because the copper liked my car, asked what all had bn done to it, engine mods etc, chatted some more and asked me if would sell, giv me a card with his mobile number on it an said give me a shout if you decide to lol.

another time was for doing 55mph thru a roundabout. taking a mate to the hospital after he cut his fingers off. pulled me over an started chattin, copper: although ur wee car handles well, do u not think thats a bit too quick? whats the rush anyway? me: lift a bag from between the seats containing ice and 3 fingers, heres my reason officer. hehe
officer replys: whats that?? me: my mates fingers!!! officer vomites :*melon* me get that man to the hospital now?!?!
me: yes officer, thats were i was going until u stopped me!! oh by the way, u boked on my sideskirts!! lol.
was quite a fun journy must admit.

then they stopped me a few days later, thought what now?? but they just wanted to see if my mate got his fingers stitched back on ok!! lol.

Ive been pulled once at about 3 ish am in the morning on the way home from work, just checking if i had been drinking (it was a saterday morning coming home from Brighton) so understandable but when I explained where I worked they stood talking with me for about 15/20 min asking home the night had been before I said I really needed to get home and sleep! lol

Have all the respect in the world for them, they have a job to do the same as anybody else. If you have nothing to hide or nothing to prove then whats the issue?
