i agree. it is between you and your mate.

no it's not >_<

why do you have insurance if your not going to use it ??? .... just so your road legal ????

come on, this guys lost his car and he cant even rely on his dad to do the right thing for him, geez, i'm starting to feel sorry for the guy now >_< >_<

"sorting it out with your mate" is OK if it's just a bent bumper or a smashed light but this is WAY beyond that. they should have gone down the insurance route straight away with damage that bad. i don't care if its your mate or your granny >_<

Couldn't agree more.

Can't believe you cancelled the insurance. Your car was sat in the garage totally buggered, you cancelled the insurance?! But...havnt you already paid for the insurance how is it going to cost more money?

Lost for words.

we rang to see what they said, and they said they can give us 1200 odd back after admin fees and all the bull, so it wasn't really stupid 1200 is alot of money but I had to get a loan to cover my insurance as they don't do monthly for 17 year olds, so I will pay most of the loan off with that, and pay the rest off out of the 500

duuuude! seriously! go round there, give the 500 quid back and go through his insurance!

If he doesn't comply then go round there with a hammer and chisel and crack his gearbox open!

So once you have paid the loan off you will have nothing to fix the car...?

Is this not the perfect example of why we all have insurance?

Hang on so...

your cars ruined and your going to have to spend nearly all your money paying off the loan for the insurance? AND lose your no claims bonus....not that you'l have one.

EDIT: Sorry someone beat me 2 it.

your mate's a c**t!

I'd definately crack the g'box or maybe just loosen off the sump plug so he gets stranded somewhere!

I can't actually believe what I'm reading.

Why do you even bother taking out insurance if you're going to cancel it after a crash?

You've been had pal, by your friend, his dad and your own dad, stand up for yourself and stop letting other people take the *yellow human water* at your expense because until you stop them, they'll keep doing it until you're dead. Not a way to live.

I really don't think you've done the right thing here mate. Been reluctant to get involved with this thread but you DEFINITELY now need to go to your mate and say, LOOK, I've consulted people in the know (solicitors or whatever) and there's no way it was possibly my fault: you *melonsed* my car, now youll pay for it or I'll call the police.
Now you've cancelled the insurance you DEFINITELY need to do this, I don't care if he's your best mate or dominatrix bumboy, I cannot let you get screwed over like this.

only 3 on mine but i agree.

If i'd crashed into my mate like that i'd be calling up my insurance with his details telling them i'd hit him. your "friend" is no friend

Jesus, this gets worse.

Dude, go see him, tell him it's not enough to even come close to covering the repairs and get him to stump up some more. Then beg, steal, borrow and call in favours to get the rest together to repair it.

When everythings sorted and you're happy, do you're *melonsing* utmost to screw him over just like he has you, revenge isn't a "Dish best served cold" keep it festering and nice and hot, this guy's no friend of yours.

it sounds like your scared of your 'mate'

why even post the thread of your not going to take people's advice?!

its extremely annoying reading this thread with all the good advice then you basically reply with 'hey-ho, never mind'

even if you have cancelled your insurance, i'm sure you can still claim through your mates insurance. you were insured at the time of the accident so there shouldnt be a problem in claiming from his insurance which is what you NEED TO DO!

the only other option is you end up with no money and no car!

grow some balls and get it sorted!
