What u planning on doing with the old engine out of interest?

Not sure yet. The blocks been pocketed so the 1275 head works with it. If it had the right carb and was cleaned up a bit it would be quiet a serous bit of kit. So I may strip it and rebulid it when my new engines in then if I find a clubby estate can just put that engine straight in it knowing it shouldn't need an major work doing to it. You after a new engine then?

Just read all 16 pages! Keep up the good work!

Has inspired me to get cracking with mine!

Cheers thanks for the comment.

I've been to Padworth Breakers. That little MK1 wasn't quite as bad as that when I looked, but was far far far gone even then...

I first saw it when I was doing my work experience at a local garage and we went up their to drop a car off. That was about 4 years ago and it was well past it then. Never mind I know one person on here asked for the address of the place and popped over their and got a few bits off the mk1 just before the scraped it so at least its helping put another mini back on the road.

Been looking round and I have found this.

Im unsure if I should go for it or not. It will save me some money but I want to make sure it has a good fit.

Considering doing something more drastic with my engine

Cam, head, timing gear, rockers, final drive, and just sort out anything else.
Trying to squeeze what little i can out for as little cost as possible at the moment.

Might see if tom would let me help him out in return for one of his 998 heads

O right well I spent almost £600 on my engine at slarks early in the year and its still not running properly so I'm just gonna complete rebuild it and shove it in what ever mini I get next. I would like a clubman or clubman estate but we shall see what comes up closer to the time.

Thinking about it when I put my stage 3 head on the engine I just bought I'll have a spare 998 head then you can take if you want it. No idea what condition is in though.

Right I may have a few new parts coming soon as I know of a mini that has sadly just been sent of from scrap. Im really quite annoyed I asked these people several times if they would sell it to me and their answer was 'O no were gonna restore it' and I was told last night it had been sent of from scrap. So my plan is find out what scrappy its at and see if they will sell it if not them I'll grab as many parts off it a possible.

Also gonna be picking up my engine up sometime soon ready for the rebuild.

I'v also decided I'm gonna take the risk and get those cheap panels and if they turn out to be a flop then its a lesson learnt.

It's gone now :)
I got some bits off it a while back.
Went up there about a month back to strip everything I could from it, and it was gone. There was so much more on it that I wanted; air vents, voltage control box, headlights......

Bummer. Anyone know of any other MK1's sitting in a scrappy?

Good luck with the front end build. I used cheap panels on my last mini. Putting the panels together was a bit of a struggle, I could never get them to line up perfect. A bit of filler in a few places helped. Like you say it will be a good learning curve for you. Because of my lesson, I'm using genuine panels on the front of my mk1.
Just take your time, and if at first it doesn't go together right, take a step back and try again.

I spoke to you dad and he said he had put it on your mums insurance and the way you could prove it wasn't your main car is because you have you bike in you name lol. I can't be assed with proper spray gear. I just playing around to see how the finish came out. When the new front end is on and I'v put and the fiberglass boot and bonnet on and re-skinned my drivers door the whole car will be re-sprayed anyway.
