You said you will be converting to centre speedo , it should have one though shouldnt it, was it previous owners?
Im keeping mine , should look on ebay but make sure you buy the right one , some people put mini on the listing but its from a MG or similar
Good luck mate

Cheers guys. I get paid thursday so I can order a fiberglass mk1 bonnet then I'll have everything I need to replace the front apart from the grill and mustache and the bonnet badge.

The panels are non gen. I would love to have got gen one but I couldn't afford them with all the other bits that need doing. Someone local to me's doing the welding. He's restored and worked on quite a few minis so he knows what he's doing. I'v seen someone of the minis he done and the finish on them is top.

I'v also got the number of someone local that sprays cars as well. Just need to get a few more hours in at work to pay for it all. My aim is to have it back on the road for the riv run and L2B.

The panels were £135. And the guy hasn't yet got back to me on a price for the welding.

I'm hopefully picking the engine up next weekend now most of the snow has cleared.

At the moment the plans take the old engine out and send the car off for it welding. While thats being done I'll start taking the bitd of my old engine and putting them on my new engine as well as fitting a stage 3 head and a new stage 1 kit to it. Get the whole car re painted (money depending) if not I'll just do the front with rattle cans and get it the whole car painted at the end of the year.

Want to get it all ready for the riv run and L2B but we shall see how it goes.

Sorry also just notest the other bit to your post. I don't know if it came as with a center speedo as standard or not. When I bought the car it had a 110mph 2 gauge speedo. I'm not worrying about that for now anyway. I'm doing the engine and body work over the summer and then next winter when the cars in the garage I'll start in the inside. Got a few plans for it. Although on the out side it's gonna look like a retro racer the insides gonna be a geeks heaven full of gadgets. Plan is alarm, remote central locking and elec windows. I also would quite like a head-unit with a pop out TV with all the freeview channels. As well as having a full alpine speaker system. I'll also be getting a CB radio to use this summer for the shows so that will go in somewhere as well. My mates put heated seats in his clubby which I would quite like to copy lol. But that depends and I don't think I'll be able to that in a pair of cobra classics. That next stage of the grand plan is to win the lottery so I can pay for everything.

Right only a small update. I fitted my aux gauges to my dash today and also started sorting the wiring out of the CD player. 2moz is my day off so I'm gonna have ago at fitting the dash.

Right well I'v been doing a few little jobs over the past few days I just haven't got round to updating this. I also forgot to take any pictures. My bad.

Right first of all I'v striped out all the old wires our from behind the dash apart of the live wire and the earth. Main reason as they were all badly taped together and one wire had even melted it was in such a bad way. I dunno how it hadn't started a fire.

After doing that I went round to see the person doing the welding to show him what needs doing and he happy with it so I hope to get it started in February half term as long as I get a bonnet for then.

And also now for some reason I seem to have quite a bit of water in my drivers side foot well so I need to sort that. I think its coming in through the windscreen.

Anyway the list of parts to get for half term are.

Mk1 fiberglass bonnet.
Mk1 grill
Mk1 grill tash
new front bumper (may also do rear while I'm at it) With over riders and corner bar.

I'v also arranged to collect the engine this weekend so I can start working on that.

Thanks
Jon.

Well done Jon, keep on top of those leaks! I have the same with mine, renewed almost all of them now, the mk1 grill will really finish off that front end, over riders will be nice and retro too.

Cheers. I'm sure I can sort it quickly and relatively easily. Just need to get some money to pay for it all.

Not really sure yet. I think I'll rebuild it and get it ready to put on another mini. Don't really want to sell it as I spent £600 on it last year and that still didn't get it fixed so Im gonna start from scratch.
