maybe the sight of 40x40 box section coming through the front of his car as he fails to stop, will drill into his thick skull to give up mechanics and get a desk job, where the worst he could do to someone is a papercut.

on second thoughts, that would mean he'd drive to work. I now recommend working from home, far safer for everyone on this planet.

Thats a very brave choice and I commend you on your actions, good luck and don't forget your first aid kit/tyre foam/spare bolts/organ donors card(hell some good may as well come of the trip!!!)

Actually I shouldn't joke because its not funny and I'm sure if your parents were reading this thread and saw the way he appears to act and behave the chances of you being allowed to reverse off the drive with this lunatic would be minimal!!

If you bodged the calliper back on with the bolt from the top arm (what on earth was keeping the top arm on?), then you'll almost certainly need a new hub as well, or at least helicoil the calliper mounting hole on the hub.


I have always wondered when someone will post a topic on TMF showing such complete stupidity that it will make the thread one of those that gets linked to on many an automotive forum, I have a feeling my wait is over!

oo that reminds me. My local mini man told me a story of a guy who mangled, i think it was a gear box gasket, and so made a new one out of a rice crispies packet.

Then once he'd finished that, he filled the engine up with oil and water.......pouring both into the oil cap!

From what I've read, there is only one lesson he NEEDS to learn. If you even suspect a fault with the brakes, you stop, immediately, whilst you still can. Simple as.

In all my years of owning an mini which compared to some is not very long at all, I have always stopped at the slightest worrying sound!!! he claims to have experience with in the mechanics industry and he still carries on!!! I have no words that can properly explain how shocked and appalled I am!!!

if he needs to learn the lesson when to stop and check out ANY suspicious sounds that ANY car makes then he needs to jump of a cliff now before he kills some one!!!
