Thats a very brave choice and I commend you on your actions, good luck and don't forget your first aid kit/tyre foam/spare bolts/organ donors card(hell some good may as well come of the trip!!!)
Actually I shouldn't joke because its not funny and I'm sure if your parents were reading this thread and saw the way he appears to act and behave the chances of you being allowed to reverse off the drive with this lunatic would be minimal!!
Quite rightly so too, as I've already said people like this who don't know as much as they think they do, are a danger to both to themselves and others.
Sorry to sound harsh, but its true.

my parents have met him, and i doubt they would stop me.
my dad once drove quite a long way with 3 working brakes. he's still here... obviously, or i wouldnt be.
sean isnt quite a stupid as he makes out on the forum, you should reserve judgement untill you meet him, and get to know him

Better be quick with this, if he's having another go at his brakes we all have very little time to get to know "The real saxo-mini-fiesta"
And his stupid act is VERY convincing, is he a member of Equity?

Note to self: Don't follow that carI will! I'd even let him drive, and im not crazy.Anyone fancy driving to Germany in car after mr saxo had, and I quote "crawled over it like a fit 20 year old"?
There are alot of over-the-top personal insults flying around here, and I think enough mods have already asked people to desist, but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! Brakes are not something to be diced with! It can be the difference between life or death, and not necessarily yours. Don't risk it. You said you didn't know it was the brakes to start with, but that's no excuse. I mean let's think about this. The wheels won't turn... Oh I'm sure it'll be fine to continue..........

coulda been a chunk of tarmac from the dogy pot holes stuck in the wheel, that would have been my first thought. and i would have done the same thing.
granted, after mabe the 3rd time, i would have had a proper good look.
I would be pretty sure following his car would be fine, being infront of it would be the issue.

If you bodged the calliper back on with the bolt from the top arm (what on earth was keeping the top arm on?), then you'll almost certainly need a new hub as well, or at least helicoil the calliper mounting hole on the hub.
I have always wondered when someone will post a topic on TMF showing such complete stupidity that it will make the thread one of those that gets linked to on many an automotive forum, I have a feeling my wait is over!
I can’t work out what bolt was used to bodge it back together, well I can but… The top arm is held in place to the subfame by a shaft so it’s not that, and the other ends the ball joint. Which then leaves the bolt that goes through the arm to which the bottom part of the damper attaches, although even though that is a separate bolt it’s highly unlikely that will want to come out easily by the side of the road, as they corrode/size in place.
So the only place i can see were you removed one bolt to replace other is the arm on top of the hub for the Steering, which not only means the Brakes were defective but the Steering too.
