To be fair to the dealership does any one actually know if this mini really was traded in for the scrappage allowance?

It might be a borrowed mini from some one as they want to keep the mini theme on the forecourt rather than have an old nova or something...

In 6weeks it may be taken off the stand and given back to it's owner to keep using if you know what i mean?! It doesn't look in bad condition really!

But... If they have taken it as trade in and they are going to crush it i will be very angry!!

Apparently so  :

Yeah, register your interest by making the call...

Apparently it's already been traded in under the scheme :o

But hey since the salesman said they've had so many enquiries a few more can't hurt ;)

Callers so far:

Ethel

It's a real shame. At a quick drive-by glance I'd have mistaken it for being a pretty shimmy Classic Mini on sale for 2K :P
The advertising stunt couldn't really be in worse taste and has put me off from buying a Bini to complement my classic in the future.
They should have put up a reliant robin in homage to the Mr.Bean sketches :P

I think it will backfire on them. Minis look cute and are full of charm, that's part of their appeal.
With those eyelid things on, that mini looks all sad and forlorn. They may aswell have put a speech bubble over it saying 'Please don't kill me!'

Even non-enthusiasts will feel sorry for it.

Oh, I've checked the numberplate on the Mini in the DVLA vehicle check thing, it can't find any details; which would suggest either a false numberplate, or the car has been officially scrapped.

I am saddened that someone would trade it in for scrap against a new one when it is obviously worth more than 2k and had a few more years left it in yet. What is more annoying is the way they are pretty much saying (advertising) the old mini is scrap come and buy a new MINI. Great when they were trying to look like they cared at Mini United.

If someone near there printed off MURDERER, one letter per page, and bluetacked it to the side of the car, i dont think they would do anything,

Don't you think they'd take it off :D

What, and you would spray it on a perfectly good mini?

spose you could get a decal cut and put it over, would still come off though.

think about it, you cant hurt the mini, and you dont want to be done for criminal damage.

Be very angry if what they told me is true. I dare say they'd argue they had little choice if that's the car traded in. I say, that's rhubarb if they didn't suggest a realistic sale value to the owner, or come up with an alternative deal that would have allowed them to sell on the car and save it - "MINI saves Mini from crusher" sounds like a much better PR story. They still have to justify why they chose to put on those gallows, seesaw. I'm struggling not to make a Taffyesque analogy about public executions.

Good old taffy! that bloke is a legend! i find BMW rather pathetic, if they really were interested in the Minis heritage, they would of said to the owner of that car that it was worth more if they sold it privatly, keeping another mini alive! but no, they throw money at mini united 2009, which nobody i know who is into proper minis cared about! if i was BMW, i would have that restored, and put it in their showroom for show and not crush it!

BMW never fail to shock me with their attitude!

no, but he said "good old taffy, that bloke is a legend" and in the linked topic Taffy is still calling BMW MINI owners Nazis, therefore the mistro, and Juju are agreeeing with the nazi comment.

and to think, not long ago Juju claimed that I was harassing people by calling them pillocks :genius:

the whole thing stinks of hypocrisy and ignorance, and no, I'm not a MINI fan but i know where to draw the line :D

BMW Maidstone has one on display too!! >:D Its an insult to the classic mini!! I'm saddened that they agreed to it. It just goes to show what classic mini owners always thought...... Binis are NOT minis, they are just cars and BMW do NOT care, and yet they wonder why they are not accepted into the mini world?!?!?

anorak! get a life mate! seriously get a life! stop picking faults with other people! you may find the faults are closer to home than you may think!

and thankyou mini_mad69, you are correct, i never said they were nazis!

by saying, good old taffy, that bloke is a legend, how exactly does that mean i agree with EVERYTHING taffy says? if you really want to know anorak, my surname is Ecmanis, and that is latvian, and my grandfather and grandmother were refugees from the war, because of the nazis, so its a rather touchy subject for me i feel, so if i was going to call somebody a nazi, it would take an awful lot, a lot more than a greedy company, only interested in the bottom line of their accounts, putting a car, they pretend to show an intrest in saving the heritage of on a stand and put a few stickers on to promote a scheme the government has come up with to put people who cant afford a new car into even more debt by making them think they are getting a good deal! so unless you are going to suprise us all and come up with an apology then keep your grimy fingers busy with something other than your keyboard!
