Looks very cool mate, but I must ask, why the jump straight to 1380? the extra CC won't really benefit you being a turbo engine, and it makes it harder to get the CR low enough

come on Prawn, you should know better.. yes 1380 does benefit, and its easy to get the CR low enough.

cheers prawn :-

ive decided to go 1380 because itl have slightly less lag (and the fact a rebore costs the same no matter how big you go and the piston arnt really any dearer), and the cr should be easily made low enough as im having the deep dished omegas and the head is getting slightly worked, and for now it wont be running mega boost anyway as its still got a standard helical gearbox and thats gotta last for the summer atleast before i can afford a stronger item :genius:. i did discuss all the options but this seemed the best way to go, i dont want a laggy engine, but still want the bigger turbo and long FD so this should eliminate some of the lag so it a good drivable car but still have the power to supprise people.

markgtt arnt you running a 1380 turbo with good sucess at the moment, and what spec is yours is it similar to this?

oh and is anyone else on here running DTA engine managment, i love the sound of it from what ive heard? would love to hear from people who are running it.

cheers

not far different spec then... your RR is very impressive in the last minimag! you can see the difference in lag on the power and torque curves in comparison to the other turboed minis, ill put that down to 1380 haha  im hoping mine is around 140 - 150 mark for bhp and torque

stunning car you have by the way!

well ive stripped the subby today, and degreased it:

Posted Image

its having all new ball joints, new wheel bearings, and my new hetro turbo flanges and disks on top. the hubs themselves are off and i am going to try and get them bead blasted before refitting them.

put the flages on the wheels for now for ease of storage, it also stops me loosing my wheel nuts  BEEFY :

Posted Image

which means my old brakes are for sale complete with drive flanges and evrything:

LINKY :)

more updates soon :)

well made this, but not sure where i mounting, whether to swap dials with my centre binacle or even wether to paint it.

Posted Image

however there is bad news aswell. the shell is welded and safe for this summer now, but its life is limited i feel. to keep it on the road after this summer will require a major overhaul with a fair few new panels. so ive decided to keep on the lookout for a decent mk1 or clubby shell, or non runner and cut my losses.

very gutting but ill still have my lovely turbo lump and any other good bits back off the old girl. the interior is good so ill make some money back on that.

for now ill focus on this summer tho and have a good last summer in it. :D

then there will be a new 1380 turbo thread in an older car.

ill start saving when this one is all payed up. ;D
