My only worry is that once it's derusted and primered up, because of the rust pimples and such, it won't be perfectly smooth. The crackle paint would hide that.

Am I being to perfect again?

Just rang up Mini Sport.. said two weeks at the latest >_<

Waiting on the boot floor and battery box (which is odd.. because they said they already had that for me) & the rear valance closing assemblies, which are Heritage.

If it is two weeks, that'll be perfect timing! I should be coming home for Summer then, so fingers crossed

The crackle paint might i guess, buts it's a roof rack !! It'll get scratched if you actually use it!

I'm back home from Uni for a long weekend!

Can spend alllllllllll of tomorrow and some of Saturday on her :)

& I've been greeted with some lovely bits!

Posted Image

Map light, either it's newly made or incredibly well kept and unused.. nice metal casing too.

Posted Image

How my dashboard is shaping up, obviously it needs cutting down to shape :P and things will be jiggled around.. debating wether to keep my air vents and if i need a sound system at the moment, think it'll be a yes for both! so I need to work something out.

& *drumroll*

Posted Image

Panels! everything I need to sort the rear half out :) you see can see what is Heritage and what isn't. I'm over the moon with this lot! :)

There is a full boot floor there as well, with a battery box! But it's a bit tricky getting photos in a dark room of something that's black! I'll get some better photos when they are welded in ;)

All the panels are from Mini Sport, they took a month in total to arrive, but I was told some of the Heritage bits were being manufactured, so it was understandable :)

Actually found them pretty nice to deal with.. rang up once a week to chase the panel and they told me what they now had in stock and what they were waiting for :)

Fairly good day, hindered by Dad parking his car in front of the garage and going to work  drill is in there & the vice. So I've prepared everything today ready to be wire brushed down and painted up.

Having a problem with a bolt on one of the top arms.. had to get my brother to stand on it whilst I levered away with a torque wrench, bloody thing is moving.. but the thread the other side isn't, can't have sheared inside? I've left it soaked in WD40 overnight.

& I don't have a spanner large enough for the hubs!

Posted Image

Better picture of the boot floor, lovely smooth metal!

Posted Image

All the bits that I'm refurbing, hopefully it's the last batch of bits.

Posted Image

Everything is in good condition, just needs derusting and painting up, bearings, seals etc..

Posted Image

Cleaned the carb up as well..

Posted Image

& after, not spotless but degunked of most the grime and dirt that was on all the moving parts.

Posted Image

Everything apart and ready, bar from the 4 ball joints and..

Posted Image

This pain in the ass.. I'll attack it again tomorrow, could be I keep my eye out for a cheap second hand one at Himley Hall.

Posted Image

Think I'll spray my radiator surround and the top of the actually radiator in BMC green, to match the engine.

Pretty good day, picture heavy.

First of all I opened my post, found this on Retro Rides for £12 posted :D the fact it's got the original packaging with it, and the price is in Shillings! so it's a good 40 years old, I think. I'll wet and dry the plastic and spray it up, someones done a pretty shabby job of respraying it in the past. Need to bend the legs so it will sit straight, but it's pretty cool for shows and meets :)

Posted Image

Then I set about cleaning up some of the suspension bits, couldn't do the hubs 'cause I didn't have a large enough spanner at the time. So wire brushed down..

Posted Image

Etch primed.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Sprayed :teehee: lovely!

Posted Image

Then we popped across to Grandmas and rummaged in Grandads garage, found a big spanner and adjustable big enough for the job, got a few sockets too which are the same size, so I'll crack on with removing the ball joints when I'm next out in the garage.

Posted Image

Some grinding paste, for setting in the ball joints and smoothing out the mating surfaces.

Posted Image

Another one of the side lights, which I've found a pretty cool use for ;) & an old brandless 12v clock, which I hope to get put in the dashboard.

Posted Image

Yeaaah :) you feeling that? does need to be mounted properly, but it fits :D

With all the effort you are putting in to replace the boot panels etc would you not be better to replace the full heelboard rather than those repair sections???
The only reason why i'm asking is i have recently done all of that panel work including the full heelboard and its much much easier to do when all of the boot floor and rear seat panel is out.

Those repair sections you have got for the heelboard look like the ones we originally bought and to be honest they were rubbish, extremely poor fit and didn't tie into the inner sill section. It might sound like a lot of extra work but in the long term it will pay off. Have a look at the Project Erm link and you will see what i did.
