Or rub sandpaper over the lip if you're not too confident with the grinder yet, as if you press a little too hard, you'll lose where the spot weld is. Sandpaper will highlight them for you great, then just center punch and drill out!

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item19bc45048c

Thats the sort of spot weld bit you want. I bought an 8mm Dormer one and I've not replaced it yet, eBay only seems to have 6.5mm Dormer bits at the moment though sadly.

Cheers Adam :) just ordered one of those drill bits of Ebay.

Nice decision on cutting the bins and stuff out mate, I'll be doing it next week.

I assume you will be having harnesses?

Really wasn't sure if i should or not though! Keep up the good work :o

It was a no brainer for me really.. I'll have to make up some flat steel sections and spot weld them in, to support the overhanging seat edge. Seeing as I want to maybe retain my rear seats.

Just done a bit of research and apparently having the rear seats available and using harnesses don't mix.. and I'd rather have my safety increased over carrying 2 extra passengers, so bye bye the idea of having both.

As for an idea of what seats I'm having.. I'm heavily considering these..

FIA approved as well, with some properly installed harnesses I should feel safe! :)

I was thinking the classic leather low slung seats.. but with safety in mind they will only look good. And I know just because I'm fitting a turbo doesn't mean I'll be sailing along at some stupid speed, it's what else it out there that can hit me, turbo or not.

Those seats look great, and are the ones I want.

If your having no rear seats do you need those subframes?

Could you just not bolt those alluminium side mounts to the floor?

Would be stiffer and safer in my opinion.

Progress is looking good.

Just got back from Stoke, picked up my new head :)

Lovely bloke, had two automatics parked on his driveway & two estates out back, all in very nice condition. He said the Mini Mine shop was a few streets away, but we couldn't find it >_< probably a good job as I would've only gone and spent a few more quid.

I'll give it a nice lick of BMC green and polish the surfaces, then it's good to get bolted on :ermm:

Looking at the gasket surface (don't know whether it's just the photo or not) but it might need a skim bud. It might not seal properly.

It's just the photo, I think when my lens is on the wide angle it adds a bit of fisheye to the photo. It's in good shape >_<

Ah nice one. Didn't want to see you have to rip the head off to get it skimmed after 10 minutes on the road.

Or more than likely just needs a quick once over with some fine we'n'dry rapped round a sanding block and some wd40.

By all means get it check to see if the head face is flat, but if it doesn’t need doing, I wouldn’t bother.
