Taking my total spending since deciding to turbo up to around £750! :xxx: :xxx: :)

Worth every penny I reackon.

Progress looks good, are you fitting the engine as is, with the turbo bits and 12g295 bolted on top.
Or are you going to upgrade anything?

Yep I think so as well :)

I spoke to Wil H, one of the brothers who own the fastest 998cc turbo and they said the engine will cope as it is standard. I won't be giving it beans as the last thing I want is a grenade in the engine, I will upgrade at a later date. Incredibly tight on money now after turboing it, still need to fund a full respray!

Cheers Ed! ;D

I'm jetting off to thailand tomorrow for two weeks! so unless someone wants to carry on with the bodywork whilst I'm away :P there won't be much progress. I have been on the phone to the fabrication place and I will be sorting some sheet steel out the week I get back and I have also roped in an old friend into showing me the ropes with welding one Sunday, which will be very useful.

Bye :)

Cheers Adam!

SPI fuel tank turned up today, won't take any photos as it's just a mass of bubble wrap :) unwrapped the smallest bit and got a huge whiff of petrol, think I'll open it in the garage after I get back ;D

If there is fuel vapour in that tank Luke, store it out of the house, you never know what could happen while the house is unattended!

Maybe I'm just a worryalot, but I'd be leaving the tank outside or in the corner of the garage :).

Back from my travels

My SPI tank, if anyone knows what is what, I'd like to know!

Posted Image

Dropped her down off the a-frame, forgot how low she is! and it'll be a good 4 inches lower than that!

I did this because the scaffolding pole was in the way of the dashboard area, meant I couldn't make a good template. So after some cardboard, masking tape, a jigsaw and some sanding.. I got..

Posted Image

Posted Image

Im really happy with how this is looking, I left about a centimetre at each end as I wasn't sure how the door catch would affect where the dashboard sits.. but when the shell is painted and there isn't any light coming through the rusty holes :D you won't notice.

It needs some more fettling, and I need to fabricate some fixings to keep it in place.

Posted Image

Rough idea of where I think things will go.. obvs the light and fuse box will be raised up and secured, got other various things to go in.. gauges, switches, cigarette lighter etc..

Not sure wether to cover it in leatherette or give it some heavy coats of black paint, will keep an eye out for some material at MITP next weekend.

I know how to wire up the Spi tank, and which is the supply and return, as I wired mine in before it went to the bodyshop. Give me a min and I'll post up a couple of helpfull pics .

Its worth wiring it through a relay

Edit : Pic added

Those brackets you've found at the end of the inner sill, no you don't need them, they were used on the production line . You'll find another 2 at the front too.

Also, looking at some of those areas you want to get yourself one of these bad boys:

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item4aa2eed2a8

I've got the wheel type. Basically when you come to some metal that looks questionable, get that on it and it'll tell you if you need to do any welding or not because it'll destroy any rust in sight! Don't press too hard though :o.

wire wheels are amazing for clearing rust, but be carefull with the cup ones, we used one on a fairly new hitachi grinder and it was off balance so caused the grinder to shake itself to peices and is now ruined >_<. also thanks for mentioning the brackets, was wondering whether or not to replace them on mine! project looks amazing, love all the shiney turbo gubbins!
