Wanted to get these welded up as they are now useless.. they held the rivets that held the ashtray in the rear.

2 pence piece behind the hole, blob of weld the other side and grind flat.. job done!

All 4 done.

Gave the bare metal a coat of Ku-rust.

And then a dusting of etch

Next drainage hole to fill.

After welding, went a lot better this time! left more of a gap between the hole and the patch.. meaning the weld sunk and it went in nicer.

Etched, looks a bit heavy but it was only a dusting!

Another bit of the heelboard in the middle that needed some attention, was identical the other side.

Both of the metal tabs removed, all the rust ground down and then a coat of Ku-rust.
I've left that to dry, hopefully tomorrow I'll have the red oxide through the post so I'll finish those two sections off then.

& so did my rear seats!

So now I have two sets

& a cool thing is that the horizontal lines match the vertical lines on my front seats! so look like a set

Picked up some seam sealer today from Halfrauds.

Centre of the floor red oxided.

Then the lip seam sealed, it looks hella ugly.. but it will do the job nicely! and as it's out of view it doesn't matter.

Left for an hour whilst I did the bodywork and then covered in red oxide.

This is the corner I am dealing with first.. will repeat on the other side as well.

Closing plate cut out, got two on order.

After cleaning it all up it didn't look as bad.

So I got that cut out, patch made and started to weld it in.. but it's getting late and I need to be up for 4.40 tomorrow morning

I did look at how much arches cost to replace.. and for £120 approx for both sides, it is tempting.. but I think I can get away with repairing each of the ends as they are only rusted through there. A previous owner has repaired the middle section on both sides before.

EDIT: Just saw you mentioned that already, doh!
I can see where you're going though Luke, keep it up and you'll be done in no time

That is how tonight ended. It does feel good to have all the rusty metal cut out because now it's out of sight and I can start to rebuild it all.. but christ it looks difficult..

I need to repair this section first, then I can put the section of the floor back in.. after repairing a few tears from the spot welds.
& once the floor is built back up I can then overlay the heelboard end and get that welded in, then tidy up the end of the arch and then get the closing panel in between them in!
I'll take it little by little

Both RH and LH might be an idea.. doesn't matter that they aren't genuine as I'd be cutting them up for what I need. Would at least give me a good solid lip to go on rather than try and make one myself.
Thoughts?
