Making some progress. I may have a lead on a 3.1 here in the states. I hope.

I installed the new balk ring and 1st motion shaft back into the trans.

I had the paint out again so I put a coat on the head. It looks like a toilet bown in the thermostat hole.

THe head got a 3 angle valve job, new springs, valves, couple new seats. It's purty.

transmission is all back together with new balk rings. Just waiting on the crownwheel gears. I'm hoping my rod bearings show up today so I can finish assembling the block.

Well, my first order of the 3.1 crownwheel was cancelled because my credit card flagged the out of country purchase as possible fraud. So. I ordered it five days ago. I got it yesterday. Holy hell I couldn't have flown from the UK to home in that short amount of time. The gear arrived perfectly and is now installed in the differential housing.

I'm awaiting my neighbor to bring over a 2x4 to brace against my ceiling and also stand on the transmission so I can torque down the first motion shaft nuts on each end.

I also got all the brake lines and wiring reinstalled in the engine bay.

It's all coming together now.

I really want to buy a Fletcher center exit DTM but I'm having a hard time pulling the tringger because my wallet is gettin light.

Any thoughts on a single Weber 40? Pierce manifolds sells them for $500.00 and that includes the linkage and manifold. Seems like a good price. are there any fitment issues with the webers?

Im pretty sure you will need to modify the bulkhead with a weber box to use a weber. I can only assume that goes for any of the weber varients.

Lovely looking car by the way.

I've been following this for a while and you're doing a great job. Tidying up the engine bay makes a huge difference to the overall finish. That Eastwood silver comes up really nice, I think my alternator might like a bit of that!

The eastwood aluma blast is great to work with. it dries fast and you can lay clear over it.

I went and bought a set of 1 1/4 SU carbs on an intake with linkage. SO. only thing left really is the exhaust

I also bought a used Primary 29 tooth gear for a 1275 along with the thrust washer

While spending a ton of money on these little bits another snafu came my way. Now I need a bridging bracket for my alternator. luckly I found a used one for $10.00

If I were to do this agian I would have made sure it was an A+ engine. I'm a noob so what the hey.

Fantastic project, Tom! You made my day by displaying your skills on a variety of different cars! If you're struggling on the engine or need some tuning advice I'd recommend sourcing this beauty:
http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/1859606202

AKA The Vizard bible - it talks about anything you may ever need and it's actually quite a good read! I hope you are having fun with the car and you start enjoying it even more once it's finished!

Thanks Todd. I actually have that book. The guy I bought the block from is letting me borrow it until I get thigs situated.

I just sold a set of wheels so I'm back in business.
