Pickupapickup you are right it is that way round and yes if you fold that rubber seal up the arm whilst you get it in place then you can slide it on down then the arm is all done up it was a fiddly job to do ;D your best bet is to get an sc parts cataloge exploded diagrams of everythign and how hey go back together :D

Engine update i have got a quote to get the engine bored +060, honed, valve pockets done and resurfaced,

trying to source an unleaded 1275 12g940 or even a 1275head from the mg metro as it has bigger valves :w00t:

once this is done i just need to look for a good set of pistons dunno what is best flat tops or dished.

i currently have a lightned fly wheel but would like the lightest i can get which i beleive is 4.028kg

minispares do a 3.8kg flywheel as used for racing:)
http://www.minispare...=...5440&title=

if you dont mind me asking, how much were quoted to cut the valve pockets into the block and what size of pockets?
i was thinking of the 1275head/998block route but thought it could turn out expensive
thanks:)

Today is the only real day off i have in 2 weeks :) must have mug written on my head ....... Do i ??? lol

So on my day off today i have done a couple of things i woke up really late, lol like you do.

Once i was out and about i then decided to go and do a few jobs on ze car the first thing i wanted to do was to attach the rear plates of the drums the correct way round, this Meant removing the shoe, hub and then the back plate, on removal of the hub the bearing fell into alot of carp and hay/dust on the floor, :xxx:

So i then put a plate underneath them so i wouldnt get any thign else mucky, but i removed all the dirt and regreased and then preceeded to get the them swapped over, so they Were the correct way round.

Posted Image

Finished! :D

Now for the fun stuff of the day i started off with block on my bench looking very grubby and sorry for its self,

Posted Image

After a couple hours cleaning it up and removing various rubbish from the previous gaskets and with a quick attack with a wire brush and a lick of paint i was left with a rather good looking block ! :)

Posted Image

Then i had a brain wave i wanted to look at what the Yellow cylinder head and Black block looked like. (998 head is a tester for colour as i will be buyin a 1275 head)

Posted Image

I really like the colours as they are in the speedwell theme, they match my subframe and also my poly bushes !!!! =WIN ;)

Once i had done this i i then turned my attention to my hubs as i had painted the steering arms and also the nuts and tab washers so they looked the part :D Not that im sad :D

Posted Image

So once they were put on i attached them to the sub frame :genius:

Posted Image

Passenger side

Posted Image

Drivers side

Posted Image

Passenger side head on.

Posted Image

Complete subframe :teehee:

Posted Image

Passenger with yellow Poly

Posted Image

Drivers with poly and subframe bolt

Posted Image

Complete subframe :D

In the next couple of weeks i intend to get

New brake discs
Grease nipples
Grease hub caps (for rear hubs)
Nuts and bolts set ! (who does these ? )-----------------------------------------PLEASE SUGGEST SOMEWHERE TO BUY IN BULK
Getting the block sent away to be rebored, honed, valve pockets put in and chemically cleaned,
Trying to find a 1275 head that is unleaded

then after london to brighton the body work list will start to become smaller and smaller,
with the main proirtys being the pickup bed, inner door sill, rear bulkhead,

Jobs that i intend to get done in the next couple for weeks is ..........

1. Clean out my Sludgey gear box, then paint the outside of it :D

2. Smarten up the gear linkage and remove and polish the kad quick shift then repack with lots of lovly grease :dozing: hmm lubey :teehee:

3. Get Rid of stuff i dont need ! will be a list of bits to trade on the swap /selling section soon :D

4. Start attacking all the unseal/ stone chip off the bottom to see how everything it under the car.

5. Try and arrange to get drive shafts + steering rack and colum from the donor car so i can get penny rolling

today and yesterday i did a couple of pretty jobs not really essential but never the less i wanted to do it for personal satisfaction so anyway what i did today was to clean up my clutch housing photos show the various stages,

Posted Image

so this was it all dirty and a bit minging ==>

Posted Image

after about 5 minites rubbing down,

Posted Image

All cleaned up

Posted Image

i managed to get a mirror finish with the special pastes that i used, had a rubbing down paste and a finishing paste which is about 2000 grit the finish is awsome i dont no if i can put some sort of laquer on it keeping the shine.

this the top part of the plate fully polished

Posted Image

i then did the back plate thingie

Posted Image

again messy and icky !

Posted Image

Posted Image

side is messy 2

Posted Image

half finished

Posted Image

All finished.

Posted Image
Posted Image

i then decided to test it on the engine

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Once i had finished ;D

i then had to check the bores using a bore gauge (got my freind to do this ) ;) but i was in for a shock

we did it and found out that all bores had worn 1500th of an inch one way and between 3000/3500 thousanth of an inch the other way so i have oval shaped bores ! arrrrhhhh

Posted Image

so now im deffinatly boring the block to +60 thou and looking at powertune pistons made by minispeed :dontgetit:

just need to find a head

and i have just seen the seat i want for sale but i dont have the money

bit dissapointed on the stands that were there really all same stuff nothing different :) something did catch my eye which was a extended centre binnicle that could have a tacho in it but the sold out , i couldnt see anybody selling Yellow silicone hose sets (do they exsist?) or yellow leads from the dizzy to the plugs. i felt there was alot more on offer at brooklands. o well next mini show isnt too far away :-

so anyway on the way home i realised i cant even attach my new shiney discs on becasue i done have any driveshafts :)

i need to get this donor car over soon ;)

will get photos uploaded soon :)

and does anyone have a picture of how harness would attach to the pickup ? as i would like to have a nice set of schroth harness's :)

Afternoon ladies and gents after a loverly day at L2B i felt a BOOST of enthusiasum, so i left my house and walked down my garden to my workshop, and aimed to get as much done as my body would allow me, this resulted in being down there from 11m to 9.30pm with the occasional wee & coffee break i maangeed to get far more done than i antisapated :D

firstly i painted my flange as they had started to surface rust once again, so i sorted those out by wire wheeling them and then painting them, i then put them on my nice new shiney shiney discs :P

Posted Image

the i thought to go with my discs i would find my calipers and paint them so i found them cleaned and painted them

nice and yellow to go with the polys and the speedwell theme :D im gettin abit obbsessed about colour

Posted Image

i then decided to attack my gearbox i cleared out all the guck and nasty horrible oil and made it nice and clean, once this was done i clean the outter parts ready for painting :D

Posted Image

Posted Image

once i had done this i made a mock up of what the engine was going o look like, so all the major 3 parts together

and i came up with this :)

Posted Image

Posted Image

i then decided with the gearbox being made all pretty i would make the gear linkage loo more presentable,

so i removed and polished the quickshift and the bottom plate removed all the old horrible grease and packed it with lovley new stuff and i then painted the actuall linkage rods and then the housing itsself.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

once i had done all of this i then decided to take a look at the bottom of the pickup and make sure that everything was allright. :-

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

so i lifted it all up and check everything, aprt from a few dodgy welds everything looks good, so i put the mini back down and then relised that i have dented the rear panel !!! :xxx: hoping it will just pop out

another update tommorow

:D

i couldnt see anybody selling Yellow silicone hose sets (do they exsist?) or yellow leads from the dizzy to the plugs.

don't know if you've seen them before, but Moss sell "Bumble Bee" copper competition plug wire. You have to make the leads up yourself from lengths of wire and the end caps, but they are yellow (although with a black stripe).

They're here: http://www.moss-euro...teIndexID=12564

really nice work on the pickup by the way!
