Got stuck in again today, (went out on the bike for a few hours so didn't start till around 1pm!!!!) scuffed up the inner wing again and tried some of this Deox Gel on the rust spots. I only left it for an hour and it did make a little difference but as I was going to cover it with zinc rich primer I didn't think it was worth doing too much.

Anyway, did a bit of this after removing the crap from the inner wing.

Then stuck some more zinc rich on it.

Then removed the remains of the A panel and found some rot, so I cut it out and made a few new plates to go back in (notice the plate fixed to the foot board which isn't even attached).

20140910_160630_zpsdcoazex9.jpg

Then made a new piece to repair the flitch edge (and pick up the edge of the other crappy plate)

This is how it looks tonight, just a few edges left to spot weld tomorrow and start again on the other side.

Gaps aren't too bad!

I still need to cover it with stonechip and paint under the wing after applying some seam sealer.

got myself hooked on mini...

I was taking lights off, front wire loom, radiator, some engine stabilisation links, alternator to free the engine of the chassis for the engine removal. By the time I realise what the time was ...... oh dear it was 0.50AM.

I have the feeling today it won't be any different!!!!

Parked it gracefully in a hedge after sliding down the road sideways for about 30metres after running out of talent.

Just a bent tie rod and very small dent on rear bumper.

Essentially going far far too fast, kept my foot in but should really have dropped it down to third before the corner and booted it through.

Normally it likes to just drift through corners but this time it snapped quickly and I had no chance.

Maybe a combination of things but I pretty much think running out of talent and going way too fast covers it! :shy:

Probably not the first time a Mini has been spun!

looks like they were 'resurfacing' the road too which people need to watch for. loose chips and speed are not the best of friends.

Highly possible too, touching even a slight bit of loose gravel round a corner is no good!

Yes, for one the Mini is my wifes!. When it went into the hedge it went right up onto 2 wheels and I thought it was going over but luckily didn't. Huge sigh of relief when I dragged it out to see no damage!

Well, I finally welded on the wing and got some seam sealer brushed on then coated it all in stone chip. Looks awesome now it's all in one colour under there.

20140911_174008_zpsjc2meztj.jpg

Got some seam sealer into the wing to scuttle and front panel cavities too. also took the paint back to bare steel then stuck some etch and then top coat on the edges for the moment.

20140911_170453_zps5x7brokv.jpg

Then decided to use rivnuts to fix my front arch after repairing the lower front panel where the PO had cut it back. Quite pleased with my work and how the front panel looks (had to use my shrinker / stretcher to get the bend in the lipped repair before welding.

You can just see the rivnut in the wing.

20140911_155257_zpsd8lxtig9.jpg

.....and the arch fitted with stainless m6 button heads

20140911_170540_zpspmjco0xh.jpg

...and how it should look! (excuse the crappy paint, it's only temporary)
