Went out on the bike this morning then down to Neath fair this evening so only got about 3-4 hours work in today.

Cut off the win got find some rot in the top corner around the air intake and in the lower section of the flitch there had been an old plate welded on it. I started to grind down the old welds as it had started to rot around the weld and I was able to pull it off with a pair of grips!!!

So, I prepped up both sections and cut some plates to fill the holes.

Here's how it looked, before and after.



The top of this plate didn't like being welded. I think it was due to the metal not being clean enough. It was ok though in the end.

Not today but thursday went to cleethorpes in my mini, came back on a breakdown truck as big ends have gone, engine rebuild here i come.

Fitted the engine, went to crank, 0 oil pressure

patted it and said dont worry it wont hurt too much and be better soon.

Fitted a new horn, a stebel nautilus. Now its @&?£#¥! Loud

Fitted new alternator, new fuel pump, refitted the exhaust and started her up.

Feeling productive !

undersealed the sills battery box and where the rear bumper sits and then cried at the squishyness of the metal where the bumper sits

Drove it to Goodwood and had a good look round the Revival Car show

Unpicked the remains of the spot welds from the inner wing and front panel. Started to repair the front panel lip runout where it ramps up to join the inner wing then ran out of gas so cannot complete the front panel and refit the wing and A panel!!!!! Arrrgghh!

 

Stripped off the inner wing and brushed on some seam sealer and gravitex I had left in the bottom of the pot. I now need gas, gravitex, etch weld, electrox zinc primer. Expensive week coming up!

Made some brackets to mount my rear mounted foglights too..... Just need closure plates on the side to finish off
