was literally bout to ask the same thing! 

Nah, I should start a build thread as I've done more work than I was expecting. Should have know though shouldn't I, owning a mini! :)

I openned the door and drived to my office. It's just 4 blocks away from my home.

Repaired the lower front panel edge. Had to fold a piece of steel to make the lip then use my stretcher to put in the arch curve. My shrinker jaws are knackered so I had to slot it to get the lower curve right.

Used a bit of this to get the shape right.....



then glued it on....:)



Not forgetting the wing strengtheners......





Used the strip n clean discs to rid the crappy transit paint.....



Stuck some etch on it then some primer....



then some of the best rattle can blue. Nice shine eh?

I... cleaned all the rockers and nuts and washers and stuff ready for fitting and also tidied up the grille surround/panel on the car as it's pretty badly rusted.

Got some aluminium cleaner which contains phosphoric acid and after half hour with a brush, some paper towel and sandpaper it's looking alot better!

last night- painted the new subframe with its first coat (of many) of 2 pack prior to installing it.

Started prepping the old subby by making sure all the nuts & bolts would turn; only one gave me a hard time- OSR bottom shocker mount- resistance was futile.

managed to remove the filler cap despite all the grubscrews being seized.

had a beer

finished subby with 4 coats in total of 2 pack, (is that technically 8 pack now?) + yacht varnish.

cleared out garage in readiness.

let battle commence.............

replaced the teardrop mount again as it split again, had to make a washer to go between the subframe and mount so it wont do it again hopefully. then gave it a wash, even scrubed the mud off the underside.

Technically yesterday, But as I had to find another peg for the choke I found myself bored with some left over paint...

 

 

Even had enough paint leftover to make one up for the other mini.
