Fitted new window winder rails, serviced the old girl (plugs, oil and filter change and a bit of nipple greasing) ready for next week - and now none of my spotlights work!! How the hell is that possible - I dont know!  Mini's - fix one thing and something else breaks!!! ho hum, electrical testing later it is then!!!

Probably a daft one, you maybe knocked the connectors when doing your oil filter. Did you take the front grill off? This is where I would check 1st

I did indeed take the grill off, but the bullet connectors were fine - there was no power coming through at all when I tested at the spots - next checked the switches and somehow when jiggling around inside doing the window runners I must have knocked the switches as once I disconnected and reconnected them all - hey presto they came back on!! Weird!  Maybe best to re-check that all connectors are still secure and re-crimp.  As a bonus I found that the bolt on my seat to runner mounting had worked itself loose too!

Fingers crossed that she is all prepped and ready for L2B and the summer shows  :D

Got a delivery from Mini Spares!
One shiny Aston filler cap cover & a pair of shiny domed door mirrors.

Was going to fit all of them today. So started with the filler cap cover, but discovered that the fuel tank had been fitted too far back & the actual cap wouldn't lock on to the neck.
Sooooooo..... Had to loosen off the fuel tank, push it in to correct position, then tighten everything down.

The mirrors are now a job for tomorrow!

Sun was out in Bristol, kids were out so me and the missus went for a drive. We got abit lost so we stopped at a nice pub and had lunch.

Replaced my additional rear brake light with a more old skool one.

Under sealed the new sill and sill cavity,
Under sealed my face,
Under sealed my arms,
Under sealed my hands.

Still not clean after a 1hr fairy liquid bath :shy:

The under seal is wicked tho :D

Fitted the LCB and stainless system....

Also changed the inlet manifold for the spare I had to see if I can cure the overfuelling problem..... all sorted now, temp rises to where it chould do and the engine isnt running rich now as its telling the ECU its getting warm and up to temperature :) choke switches off when it should and now doesn't overfuel at all...

Had to fix a little hole in the rear of the inlet manifold, so found a bolt that fitted the hole tightly and welded it in.... seems to have worked....

The exhaust note is lovely, doesnt blow anywhere - which is a first for me - and it looks nice too.... still dont know what rear box it is...

Got the Tex stainless domed door mirrors fitted.
Must admit, they look a million times better than the standard mirrors.

These ones http://www.minispare...px|Back to shop
They have the convex mirror glass fitted, so should be OK.

I had the flat glass bullit mirrors fitted and they was crap. And it got pointed out to me at my MoT station that they will fail if fitted...

The convex type might get you round the problem of lack of vision the flat glass type have...

Yeah the smaller round mirrors with flat glass are useless.

Convex glass is a tad better on the round mirrors.

Took the engine out and made a wooden trolley for it to stand on in the shed. Surprised how much the sump guard has deformed the front cross member of the sub frame, even more so that it is one of the official jacking points in the original manual (even gives dimensions for a wooden jack spacer). Will have to check whether it has pulled the corners of the sub frame in or not.....)
