Replaced my slow mechanical flasher unit with a new electronic one. Easy job and good to now have a steady on and off flash, rather than a gradual brightening and dimming of the bulbs.

Went to Beaulieu for the Cooper Day, nice 2 hour drive. It rained all the way down but stopped for the show thankfully. Have not been to this show for a while and not as big as I remember but lots of nice coopers to be seen and the auto jumble was very good.

After fitting and testing my sound system, i found the car wouldn't start, ummm,d and arrrrr,d lots, decided to check the usual, being fuses........ All ok, turned the key and instant smoke from under the hood, completely melted my wiring loom, by the way, in no way attached to my install.
Turns out some dodgy bastardisation had gone on before I got to it.
Chopped and cut wires all over the show........ GRRRRRRRRRRRR
REMOVED IT! Also toasted the coil........unimpressed to say the least.
Ordered new loom and fuse box (wallet feels very empty now)
Arrived today so will fit that when I get the chance.
At least I will have a fresh start.
Also sold our 71 saloon to a friend, had been shed stored the last 13 years

Electric cooling fan came in the post, tried to fit it directly to the radiator and started cutting inner wing about to fit it in but in the end I mounted it on the wing itself as it wasn't gonna fit without more cutting. At least I can remove the radiator without taking the fan off though.

Flooded the engine going up a steep country lane, rolled it back and tried again. It made it the second time but I think I might have some tuning to do!
