Decided it was just a Mini and not a F1 car so set up the tracking using 2 bits of wood and a tape measure. Good old fashioned engineering .

 

For all the non-believers!

I can see how that works for the toe. How do you do the camber?

 

It doesn't but the camber looks fine anyway - my control arms are not adjustable - the toe was way out and you could tell from the steering - now feels planted again.

Today I have been changing the rear brakes - don't think they have been touched for some time but were in better condition than expected!

 

Managed to change the near side without breaking anything.

Any use keeping the old brakes - would anyone want them or just bin them?

Hi,

 

Yesterday took the Moop on a 50 mile run around Surrey and while on the A25 saw many vintage/veteran cars heading west near Abinger Hammer so assume there was local club meeting.

During the trip saw two classic Minis one (a Burgundy colour) parked on somebody's drive and a black 1275 heading in the opposite direction (west) on the A25 near Wotton. Was it you?

Started the 1st leg of my journey to the Cornish Riviera run on the hottest day of the year and in traffic jams on the M25, the mini got a bit warm but did well on the 200 mile journey, saw a few classic minis and this beauty.

Started Project Door 2 which includes

 

New top bracket (broken bolt) and rear plates (there weren't any or any shims!)

Drilling holes and creating a wiring loom for LED logo light, door open warning light, electric window and central locking!

 

Have already done the driver's door so this should be easier!?

Fitted a new fuel pump and took it for a test drive, seems to have cured the misfire. I think I will end up fitting a facet in the future though

Took the Moop for a 20 mile run then took her to the garage for her MOT.

Yeehaa she passed with no advisories.

I was pleased with the emission figures

CO max limit 3.500      actual value 0.524

HC max limit 1200       actual value 162

Just had a oil and water top up ready for tomorrow and found some slight cracking in a fuel line! Not happy

Replaced the outer CV boot on the Mrs mini ready for the MOT, I discovered I am now fat enough to pull the CV nut round to the next slot for the split pin, just by jumping on the strong bar.

raised the rear end up an inch. Exhaust and wheels were scraping.

Passanger seat wasn't catching and kept dropping back once seated in it. Some adjuctment later, plus odd jobs, and all sorted.

 

Also, getting a quote next week for some body/paintwork to be done just above rear valance - where paint has buddled.
