Forgot a few things at Mini spares!

The misses loom was out of stock, and the fuel caps still arent in so I cant get them for her.

I think my next order might be in the region for £500 with tyres, her loom and a few other bits (like the seem sill, sump plug, clear lenses for Sonics front indicators etc)

Still interested in people opinions on the above question regards rubber, but pretty sure I am going to go with the YOKOHAMA A008

Thanks 1275Ash, its nice to hear people compliment the mini, I really appreciate it.

Still got a long way to go before I am "happy" with it. It really needs a fair bit of tidying up round the front (ie New front wings, A panels and scuttle!)

I would also like a bit more poke, but its not critical. The 998 dos the job well enough, so I guess the engines at the bottom of the list.

I think I will have a look at the interior next, as it still doesnt have door cards, headlining (but I have sourced a pick up headlining frame now- which are like gold dust) and dash liners. I know what I want (its a little custom) and more importantly Chris at Retro retrims knows what I want but its just finding the cash and justifying the spend when I am saving for a house deposit and wedding!

A032s are good for track days and fun driving, but they wear a little quicker than A008s. If you're going to be using it daily I'd go for A008s :(

Good to hear your finally doing something about your door lol. Also I think I have some clear indicator lenses in my garage somewhere. Swap them for a pint of coke at Ace if you like.

Had other priorities mate

Are then indicator lenses glass or plastic, and need to be classic style which are pointy not newer, "fatter, flatter, rounder" ones

They are the earlier type that sits in the rubber seal with the chrome bit round them. They are made of plastic.

Sonics looking good. Glad your getting the rustyness sorted mate. Get some A008's, that's what I was running on mine when I took it round Castle Combe last September and it handled like an absolute dream. You'll find Pickups handle better than the standard Mini because of the longer wheel base anyway. I overtook my mate who's running 115bhp in his Mini and mine only had 80bhp, simply because I could hit corners so much faster. The A008's give plenty of grip for that kind of use, so day to day 998 powered use they will be perfect.

Dan :)

Im after the older glass ones. Thanks anyway mate but the newer style wouldnt look right.

I got my order in for 008's which are going on the 10x6 wellers. Thought I might as well make use of the Minispares yoko group buy!
The Reverse rims will get Yoko 032r's when ever I get round to having them banded.

I agree the pick up is lighter and does handle better than the saloons. Its not the main reason, but it one of the reasons why I wanted a pick up. The rear can be too light at times however. Once upon a time I was thinking of getting a beam axle but it would have been a nightmare keeping the rear on the deck!

It wont stick with the 998 forever. I cant go from a 4.2 V8 daily drive to my weekend car with a 998! Thats just not right!

Yeah, found that out going over Avon Rise at Combe - very sideways. Brakes weren't an option so a lot of revs in 3rd gear soon put me back in a straight line. I prefer a bit of lift off oversteer to understeer though, much more fun! ;)

Agreed!

Popped into minispares on my way home.
Bought some bits that I forgot on sat!

So now the pick up has:
-New A panels (inner and outer) bought Sat
-New seam strip for once the A panels are replaced (the old one has really perished!)
-Wheel nuts for the wellers
-New sump plug and washer
-Some nice new 008 yokos!

For Hannas Mini (Freddie)
-Loom
-New sump plug and washer
-Large grille screws
-2 new Brake discs
-new brake pads

Just need to get the A panels and tyres fitted, and the loom and brakes on Hannas
