The Mini is home from Guessworks via Bingley

The new gearbox is rather nice, butttttt........ the rattle is still there. It wasn't the gearbox. Investigating tomorrow what else it could be, but it might mean engine out again. Gutted about sums it up!

At Bingley I saw this rather shiny mpi engine. I normally prefer subtle to fully shiny'd, but this looked really smart. I forgot my camera batteries so it's an iPhone shot unfortunately.

Oh and I went to see Smiffy Bits! So my engine bay gets a bit shinier again!

Well if it's not the idler, which it isn't, since it has a new gearbox, then it could be the crank :( Which would mean the engine needs to come out again, and it will cost me loads of money again :(

Oh I'd like him! I want a Mini thats a bit more special that a general production model. I have a JC 90bhp kit in the garage hidden away, but retrofitting it to my car just isn't the same!

But no. No! I'm trying to have less Mini issues, not more :P

Woo I fitted the Smiffy bits. That air intake finisher was a complete pain to get on! The engine has been quite dirty since it went away for the work to be done, so I think it could do with a clean again. And I'm sure John added a few extra pipes and cables under there  I honestly don't know how people manage to keep their MPi engine bays looking so neat on a car that's actually driven!

I'm thinking I want some colour coded arches as well now :D Bit cold for painting anything right now though!

Is the knocking noise constant or only when you pull away?
