Z-cars site says you can self build for £6300.00, wonder if it is possible. Would be good to see what others have done theres for.

Now see when you put it like that, it doesn't appear too bad..Approx values, something I could do with doing myself. BUT TOO SCARED.
engine, the expensive bit. R1 carbed = £1000
full roll cage, Mini sport front and back converted = £400.00
suspension, front spax coilovers + springs = £240.00
suspension, back gaz adjustable shocks = £190.00
brakes, metro 4 pots, from scrappy. = £ ?. got mine free .
engine mounting/subframe, the other significantly expensive bit. Don’t know as yet still playing
fuel tank, = £300.00
radiatior, = £ 40.00
all connections for plumbing, = £ 150.00
wiring loom, should come with engine, if not about £60.00 on ebay
clocks, should come with engine, if not about £80.00 on ebay
dash, home made ally or fibreglass on from Custom mini’s(EH LES!!)
extras required to complete the build, still adding up.
whatever they may be.
There are other bits and bobs, but I think about £3500.00 max should cover it, but there is my time which is not included. “It’s a Hobby”![]()

Full respray, in professional spray shop. Cost of paint and couple of pints for my mate.
Considering Z-cars kit is £5000.00 then you have to get an engine and some other bits i think it's pretty reasonable.
What out if interset, have some of the guys out there with Z-cars conversions spent?. Bet they don't want to add things up like me either.![]()
Come on tell us please.
The only thing is, fabricating the main bits, then getting them all working together, i don't have the skills, nor the facilities to do it myself.
Joe, have you considered reverse on your project?

Thats a scary prospect.. seeing what you actually spent :fear:i will let you know when mines finished later in the year, i have kept a record of every pound spent so it will be frightening to add it up!!!!!!! plus i have deducted what i have sold off the donor car so the shell didnt owe me anything, im in profit to start with

Most people move for you. Also it's very light in weight so pushes easy too.

Yeah, i'm thinking i may require a reverse gearYes concidered the reverse bit, got a starter motor already, but going to try it without. The Indy has no reverse just pop it in 1st and
give it some. Seems to go around in a circle.

I plan on using the car as an everyday driver if i can convert it

My one recommendation to anyone building something like this would be once you have finished cutting and welding, take it apart and get it professionaly resprayed. I didn't and still regret it
