I had another go today
Posted Image

I need a decent sanding block and some finer wet and dry. The 80 grit stuff is just scratching it.

Also, any advice on how to get into the shaped bits?

I thought I'd get some 120 and 180 grit to start with for these jobs

Coming on really well, I'm having the same problems with my rear seams trying to get the swage lines in line and smooth, I'll let you know if I find anything that makes it any easier.

I've ordered some wet and dry from Ebay, I'll have a play and if it doesn't look right I'll fill it and start again.

I've just finished my first shift of 6, I'm on call for the first 3 so I wont get in the garage until next Thursday and or Friday.

Hopefully Sunday we will get the front end tacked in place!

exciting stuff!

Good progress so far, keep at it.

I've been sanding back filler again today, and it's really coming along.

I need to put it on a lot smoother, because I spend ages trying to get rid of the big lumps.

Unfortunately, I've used it all so I need to buy some more tomorrow so I can crack on with it as it needs a bit more in places, the C pillar is really good it just needs a load of work at the bottom!

Just bought this! 3.5 litres! It seems more runny than the last stuff I used which was quite old!
Maybe it'll go on smoother!

I used that stuff Carlos, hard to sand as always !! If I were you I would exchange it for Upol Fantastic, reputed to be the best to work with, quite a few swear by it.

Just a thought.

I just need to use less Graham, and now the general shape is there that should be easier. Besides, that's all my local place had and I want to carry on tomorrow!

More pics to come

This is finally somewhere near how I want it, I've just sprayed it with high build primer, which I'll rub down tomorrow then I'm going to try and get the lines right at the weekend!

After making a mess of the C Pillar by putting on too much high build primer whilst it was too cold I abandoned that and went back to the front end.

We quickly realised that fitting the N/S inner wing repair panel without having the wing to line it up to was a big mistake.

So we cut the front section of the inner wing back off, lined everything up properly and welded it back on at the proper angle. What I should've done is bought the whole inner wing panel complete 2.5 years ago rather than faffing on with the flitch repair panel.

But, you live and learn.

Then it was on with the wing, holes drilled where it was spot welded to the top of the inner wing.

I think we had all of the clamps I own on it at one point.

I haven't taken any pics, sorry!

The gap at the bottom isn't right, but I don't know if it's the panels or the bonnet.

I'll have to find a way of doing something with it, maybe add some metal. I couldn't get it any better

And the cut where we took the inner wing off and put it back on

Wow, this thread took some finding!

The front panel and wings are on, just the A panels to do now, but that means re-fitting the doors, which means removing the bracing, but I didn't want to do that with the subframe still on due to weight.

So, here it is

The gaps are much better now and I'm really please with it!

I also took the bumper lip off the front panel, why didn't I buy a bumperless one??????
