I am currently refurbing the carb as it leaked alot of petrol from the hose between the float chamber and shaft, so have tightened that back up and cleaned the carb in petrol and with panel wipe. Takes ages to get all of the grime off! I have given it a light sand inside also, pics so far, will continue with it tomorrow to hopefully get some better results. The carb is a HS4, I hope to try get it setup again tomorrow, might need your help! Will keep you updated:

Finished re-rubishing the carburettor now, the bloody thing still leaks! ^_^ :o Which is frustrating. Also managed to sheer the pin and bolt that holds the accelerator cable on ;D I overcame this problem finidng an early HS2 carb in the garage and took the one from that!

i think yours is a waxstat jet which are prone to leaking i believe. i think you can get a conversion kit from http://www.burlen.co.uk

Its leaking from the small pipe that connects the float chamber to the shaft, whats that bit called? Its a small pipe with a spring coiled round it.

I think Im in need of a HiF38! Anyone have one?

service kit: http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=36645

or rebuild kit: http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=36794

it may seem a lot but you will have a fully rebuilt carb by the end of it. a second hand carb will still be an unmnown.
