Hi all,

I have bagged up all of the bolts and labelled everything, so I know where it all goes. >_<

I have drained the oil from the MG engine, and have given it a clean and degreased the block. I have felt the bores which don't seem to be in too good condition, so I'll be playing it safe and enquiring about an overbore +.020 taking it upto a 1293. I have had the cam out of the engine, however there are no markings to suggest that it is anything different than standard, but I have been assured that it is a different to standard cam and has a higher lift. (Out of a GTA or Turbo perhaps?) It's anybodies guess what it is. I'll be using it anyway and I'll see how it goes. I managed to split the gearbox off of the 998, along with the diff. I have counted the teeth on the CW&P and it seems I have a nice 3:1 diff ratio. I've been told that I'll see circa 110mph at 6000rpm, on 10" wheels.

The gearbox is in great condition, its clean and there doesnt seem to be any play in the gears and shafts, but we'll see how long it lasts!

This projects coming along nicely and just got a whole lot more interesting with the engine build. Can't wait for the next update, good work!

Update!

I have had the 1275 rebored + 0.020" to make it 1293. New shells have been fitted and the crank responded well to a polish, so quite made up about that. I have the rest of the parts to get cracking with the engine build now. I need to purchase oil seals and a full gasket set. I have also just purchased a duplex timing chain from minispares.

Cleaned up the engine front plate today & also cleaned/sprayed the crank pulley wheel. The Crank Damper rubber seal is a little worse for wear, can the rubber be replaced?

I thought a + 0.020 overbore on a 1275 was 1310? And +0.010 overbore was 1293?

Might be wrong but i'm not sure.
