Well if its red you will get +10bhp straight away :D
However the standard small bore jewish racing gold does not render such good results. -10bhp at least ;)

nice thread man.

i built my 998 and the only mod i did was put in a piper BP270 in and it is kicking out 54.4 bhp and 55.4 lbft at the flywheel. i dont know if that is good or not but the man said standered is 42bhp and my mates 1275 is 53bhp so im over the moon with it. when i have the moneys im defntly going to put another head on thats why ive put the cam in ready but it drinks enough petrol as it is.

i dont know why but it dosent spin up unless i take the revs right up is that right ?

ive fitted it with double valve springs aswell so how high can i take the revs up.

what else could i do to it. ive got a standered su carb on it and a straight threw mini spares stage one kit ?

sorry for the high jack aswell lol ;)

Yeah i would like 80 from mine but more realistically ill get nearer 70.
Having said that the head im getting made up has massive ports and valves ;)
Should go nice with the MSPD Trackday cam that a friend has ready for me :P

Jonseyboy: Ive just replied in your thread, any 998 tuning questions mate just drop me a PM or something, happy to help :D
This thread is quite good for ideas, PhillipGCaldwell's 1275 eating 998 thread is also quite good for ideas and theres another thread around called 998 racer which is also quite good.
Have a read through a couple of these when youve got time, itll give you some ideas and let you know a direction to go with yours :)

Cheers

I still wouldn't mind building a decent 998. I have one in my garage along with all the bearings etc. to rebuild one as it was the plan.
But then... I have nothing to do with one, maybe I'll have to get another mini to stick it in. Yeah, that's a good idea.

... I already have 3.
And on my way to selling one.
But yeah, parents didn't want me to have 2 on the drive anyway, and I'm only allowed one project.

Maybe I'll buy something else A series powered and stick a tuned 998 in that.

Eventually i want to get an austin a30 and put the heavily tuned 998 into that and stick a 1275 race engine into the mini.
Very eventually though :D
